I think there’s usually a benefit to seeing every art show you can to keep your finger on the pulse, but only to a certain extent.
Some things are beyond the pale, like the Kiki Smith exhibit I went to in L.A today. It made me feel physically ill (maybe the intended reaction). I cant even post the worst of it on social media. Of course the exhibit literature says it’s about spirituality and gender etc etc. But it’s not, and whoever accepts that inane, faux philosophical blah blah blah are chumps.
I did not leave more “cultured,” only more aware of the utter depravity and decline of our arts (which are a reflection of the state of our whole society), and walked away thinking we should probably bring back some form of censorship.

Oil and gas output of the Gulf exporters hit by the war fell from 33 million barrels a day in February to about 19 million in May. Qatar's output dropped as much as 86%.
UAE minus 3.9%. Saudi minus 3.3%. Only Oman grows, plus 4.1%.

I'm told that my assertion that Christians and Muslims worship a completely different God is wrong.
I'm told that they simply misinterpret God, misunderstand His nature, and don't have the complete picture.
But as someone who once was in that "ideology", this is simply wrong.
If God is so misunderstood or seen so erroneously and misinterpreted, it is not the same God they worship or say they believe in. At some point, their idea diverges so far from truth it is not the same at all.
In fact, it's so wrong that they think it is fine to slaughter Christians and Jews whose God they state is also theirs.
Anyone with an iota of common sense knows this cannot be true no matter what they assert. After all, lying is completed approved if it advances the political cause, the conquer and destruction of everyone else.

🚨An 80-year-old couple in Paris was robbed, stripped of their clothes and dignity, and left standing in their underwear on the street near Place de la République during Saturday’s riots.
Images show them surrounded by masked figures amid the chaos.
These weren’t peaceful demonstrators. French officials point to far-left radicals driving the violence and opportunistic gangs looting shops and targeting people.
When elderly people can be humiliated and robbed in the heart of the capital, public order has already failed.

Yet another London failure.
I am a member of a group who advises people about what to do and where to go in London.
A young American woman in the group had an appalling experience at the weekend. She went to the theatre to see a musical.
Her friends wanted to go out afterwards but she preferred to go back to the hotel.
She could not get a black cab and did not want to risk a minicab. So she took a rickshaw. You know the type: lit up like Blackpool illuminations and blaring out music.
She thought they were licensed. They are not: the mayor has been talking about that for years but it won’t be in place until 2027.
Anyway, just her and one “not English” guy cycling.
As they came closer to the hotel she said they ended up in a really quiet alley. He stopped and suggested taking her photo using her phone. She refused. She did not want to hand over her phone and did not feel safe. They had quite an argument about it. She said she would just pay and walk the rest of the way.
Then two other men appeared. Now she really was scared and offered the £30 agreed fare cash. The driver (and the two men) insisted that she pay by credit card.
They started to say that she had to pay double if she paid in cash.
At that point, a couple turned the corner and instantly the two men vanished, the driver took the £30 and she was left alone.
If that couple had not turned up I don’t know what would have happened.
She had a photo from inside the rickshaw and is submitting it to the police today but it is not easy to identify the driver.
This is not the first time I have heard of such a scam. One tourist was told the fare came to £200 because it was “a tour” and not a ride to the restaurant. Despite it being no such thing.

Israeli attacks have killed at least 21,976 Palestinian children in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to a report by Gaza’s Health Ministry marking three years of war.
Among those killed were 5,444 children under five and 1,125 infants under one year old. A further 45,569 children have been injured, including 1,134 who have undergone amputations, while 71,846 have been orphaned.
The ministry also documented:
▪️ 612 children killed while seeking food or medicine
▪️ 157 children dead from malnutrition, out of 466 malnutrition deaths total
▪️ 264 children among 2,027 patients who died awaiting medical evacuation
All 38 hospitals and 158 primary healthcare centers in Gaza have been targeted. Nineteen hospitals and 64 healthcare centers are out of service. 1,723 healthcare workers have been killed and 216 ambulances targeted.
