Did you know? NASA astronaut Dr. Nicholas Patrick took a MATLAB disc with him on a 2006 mission to space. Today, that snapshot is displayed at MathWorks HQ as a reminder of the role engineering and technology play in exploration beyond Earth. Happy #WorldSpaceWeek! 🌎

qiita.com/SatomiEto/items/df… #MATLAB #Simulink #RoadRunner

【海外で話題】 ロボット開発、かなり始めやすくなってる👀 xitter.cf/lukas_m_ziegler/status… 触るならここ👇 github.com/mathworks-robotic…

Awesome Robotics! 💾 Building your own robot just got a lot easier. MathWorks have released an open-source GitHub repository packed with robotics resources for anyone interested in getting hands-on. The repo includes examples for robot arms, ground vehicles, and drones, with projects that show how to connect with ROS and ROS2 or even deploy Simulink models directly as ROS nodes. There are also more advanced demos, like modeling off-road environments and testing navigation algorithms in photorealistic simulations. Everything is well-documented, with tutorials and links that make it easy to go from concept to prototype. 📑 Whether you’re a student, researcher, or just curious, there’s material here for every level. And since it’s an open community project, you can not only explore but also share your own contributions. For anyone looking to learn robotics by doing, this is a solid place to start! Here’s the link: github.com/mathworks-robotic… ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news → ziegler.substack.com

Researchers have presented Electrofluidic Fiber Muscles: a new class of artificial muscle fibers for robots and wearables. The new electrofluidic fiber muscles — electrically driven actuators built in fiber format — are described in a recent paper published in Science Robotics. The work is led by Media Lab PhD candidate Ozgun Kilic Afsar; Vito Cacucciolo, a professor at the Politecnico di Bari; and four co-authors. Unlike the rigid servo motors used in most robots, these fiber-shaped muscles are soft and flexible. They combine electrohydrodynamic (EHD) fiber pumps — slender tubes that move liquid using electric fields to generate pressure silently, with no moving parts — with fluid-filled fiber actuators. These artificial muscles could enable more agile untethered robots, as well as wearable assistive systems with compact actuation integrated directly into textiles.
