Soft white feathers. Fluffy gray cygnets tucked under Mom’s wings. A little family gliding slowly across the water.
Some things are just so soothing to watch.

parasites is too kind a word for these cockroaches. look how they delight in having terrorized Palestinian families into leaving so they could steal their homes, complete with furniture, appliances, and even kitchenware. No one who legitimately sells their home leaves in such haste.
My aunt got accused of shoplifting a $4 rotisserie chicken she had already paid for.
Self-checkout, Saturday, she pays, bags her stuff, heads for the door. A loss prevention kid steps in front of her cart and says, "Ma'am, you need to come back inside."
She says, "I paid." He says, "We need to verify."
So she goes back. He pulls the chicken out of her bag, holds it up, and says, "This one didn't scan." She says, "Then why is it on my receipt?" She's holding the receipt. She shows him. He looks at it for a long time.
Then he says the sentence that made my aunt, a 71-year-old woman who has never gotten so much as a parking ticket, see red:
"Sometimes people print fake receipts."
She asked for a manager. Manager looked at the receipt, looked at the chicken, and said, "We'll let it slide this time." *Let it slide.* It scanned. It was paid for.
She called corporate the next morning and got a $25 gift card and a half-hearted apology. She donated the gift card to the food bank and now drives eleven extra minutes to a different grocery store.
Store security is a real job and shrink is a real cost. But "we'll let it slide" to a woman who did nothing is worse than the accusation.

If she reports immediately, she's accused of trying to ruin a famous man's career.
If she waits, she's accused of inventing it years later.
If she tells nobody, she's accused of having no corroboration.
If she tells friends, she's accused of spreading rumours.
If she continues working in the same industry, she's accused of not being sufficiently traumatised.
If she leaves the industry, she's accused of being bitter about her failed career.
If she liked the man, she's accused of regretting consensual sex.
And if she disliked him, she's accused of having a grudge.
You CANNOT win.

Society was reimagined. And maintained. Death of the bullies meant peaceful culture without dominance - unless a bully tried to disturb their peace.
Yet another reason you'll never convince me children are better off with a shitty father than no father.

When I had Covid in 2024 I mentioned metformin to hospital staff and they LAUGHED at me and said “that’s diabetes medicine and is not ever provided for Covid I haven’t heard of that that’s not true” and I just stared at them blankly, knowing how deeply wrong they were.
Metformin given within a week of COVID-19 slashes risk of long COVID, death by 53%, paper notes
If replicated in clinical trials, the observational findings could inform ways to prevent the lingering consequences of infection.

The UCP gave the @AlbertaNDP just 1 hour to debate their gerrymandered maps.
Why?
- The UCP doesn’t want to debate anyone on anything. To quote my colleague @DShepYEG: they want Albertans to sit down & know their place.
- The UCP knows their maps are indefensible.

it may be worth recirculating today too that newly elected Michigan Sen. Abdul El-Sayed authored this 2022 article in The New Republic: "Long Covid Is Just Getting Started. We're Not Ready for It.”

Then follow the inevitable questions like: well why aren't we doing this in schools and hospitals and public spaces.
Then comes the realisation of the cost that would land on Gov's, corporations & billionaires.
Then comes the penny-drop moment that this makes sense.

Give to Gaza: chuffed.org/project/113222-t…
Families in Gaza have been torn apart by bombings and displacement - and kept apart by destroyed roads, a lack of transportation, and fares they cannot afford. This father longs to reach his sons in the South, but he has no way to get there.
This distance that we all probably drive daily should never be what keeps a father from his children!
The Sameer Project’s free buses help people reach medical care, essential services, and the people they love. Support our transportation program so that distance and funds do not keep families apart. Abed is from Jaffa. He was born and raised in Palestine as were multiple generations of his family. He is the descendant of the 160,000 Palestinians who remained after Israel’s establishment and is among the 2 mil Palestinians that has Israeli citizenship. Boundary Commissions have kept Lethbridge as 2 self-contained urban ridings for 50+ years. Having UCP MLAs draw a map that carves Lethbridge into ridings that stretch for hundreds of miles in every direction is as brazen as gerrymandering gets.

All provinces rely on independent boundary commissions to draw electoral maps. Smith rejected the boundary commission map and asked her MLAs to draw a pro-UCP map.
This is unprecedented. It's brazen US-style gerrymandering. It's cheating.
The NDP claims the UCP is aiming to use its legislative majority to gerrymander the new boundaries, in order to give themselves an unfair advantage in the 2027 provincial election.
