With AI and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), which now costs less than 2% of the per capita annual US healthcare budget, we can save the US healthcare system well over $100B annually. We can do this by predicting disease risk, combining tens of thousands of genetic variants with analysis of electronic medical records using large language models, to triage people to appropriate interventions and screening, including the AI-based imaging that Elon discusses. This can stop or delay the onset of costly chronic conditions and catch diseases earlier when cheaper to treat. We’ve set up a consortium of leading healthcare systems and technology companies to implement this concept and validate the health economic model for the country.
