I'm a subscriber to the New Yorker, but this is the most New York lib tweet of all time. Being Jesus-y is seen as weird, apparently.
Everyone's talking about Adam Hamilton, the pastor running for U.S. Senate in Kansas (a Dem who might win!). But Hamilton isn't just any Christian or any pastor.
He's a pretty Jesus-y mega-church pastor. Dems may be loving his candidacy right now, but that's complicated for the party.

👑 #1 - @YYYs' "Maps"
"Though New York art-punk trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs are often celebrated for their off-the-wall energy, it’s a quieter moment that became the band’s most-enduring song."

Rank, rank hypocrisy
Yes, happy to explain. I don’t think it’s wise to let your opinion of an entire immigration policy be dictated by outlier cases, tragic cases, or sad stories. I also support the second amendment even when there are tragic cases of gun violence.
I support ICE and I believe mass deportations are necessary. I believe in law and order and I believe in justice. So does Samuel Sey. I don’t fault ICE for doing its job. I also believe in helping friends when you can, and also believe that mercy is sometimes appropriate. I know Samuel—he’s a good man of integrity. He has made good faith effort to file the right paperwork and comply with the law. He didn’t deceive or purposefully break the law. He would make an excellent American citizen. I hope he can become one someday.
There are many other similar cases, I’m sure. It doesn’t change my opinion. All we can do is support justice as well as we can, and extend mercy where appropriate to the best of our ability. You might find this inconsistent, but I don’t. It’s just part of living in a messy world.
I used to go to the Factory weekly (yes, we called it the Factory). It’s gauche on purpose. These people aren’t offended, they just hate Obama.
Hi there. Proud longtime member of Cheesecake Rewards here. I'm actually not far from the first Cheesecake Factory, which still operates at its original location in the heart of MAGA flyover country: Beverly Hills.
The decor is famously and *purposefully* over the top - that is part of the fun! - the menu, the portions, it's all a little extravagant, which is also reflected in the price.
You should check it out. It's a long menu (kind of crazy!) but I have recs. And don't fill up on the bread!
We ran to a mass in Pennsylvania before heading home from a wedding and they dress up the EMs in white clerical robes.
I don’t see how you can be a Christian and vote Republican. I guess if your only issue is abortion and sexuality, but the Pope has made clear Christianity isn’t only those two things
