Rest in Peace, Police Officer Phillip Wagner of the Lorain Police Department in Ohio. End of Watch: July 24, 2025.
Officer Wagner served with the Lorain PD for three years and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
The FBI sends our prayers and condolences to them and the colleagues Officer Wagner served with. We will offer our full support.

On July 23, three Lorain Police Officers were ambushed while simply eating lunch in their patrol cars. Without warning, a gunman opened fire—injuring Officers Peter Gale, Phillip Wagner, and Brent Payne.
This was a targeted attack. A calculated act of violence. And yet—these officers fought to survive, to protect one another, and to ensure the threat was stopped before more lives were lost.
We stand with the Lorain Police Department and the families of these officers as they face the aftermath of this senseless act.
To Officer Gale, Officer Wagner, and Officer Payne: we are praying for your full and swift recovery. You are not alone.

RIP. Ohio Deputy Sheriff Daniel Weston Sherrer was murdered when he was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call.
Deputy Sherrer, 31, served with Morrow County since 2021. He is survived by his parents.
"Glowing personality, the guy was never in a bad mood," Sheriff John Hinton said. "Always had a smile on his face, (he'd ask to) see how your day was, crack a joke. Just a great guy. He will be missed."
The suspect was shot and is listed in serious condition and has been charged with aggravated murder.
