(You'll enjoy this one. It was meant to be a short tweet and then I just couldn't stop.) On men giving God permission. "Ye are gods and whatnot" Hebrews says God sustains all things by His powerful word. David says God in heaven does as He pleases. Daniel says God reigns in the affairs of men. So when David says God has given the earth to men, it just means God ordained using men to do His will on the earth. It doesn't mean that God is handicapped by men's wills. It doesn't mean that men must give God permission to act. Men didn't even give God permission to create them. How can they give permission to Him to do His will now? God saw the end from the beginning and calls things that be not as though they are. All of time is God's eternal present. When we say He's omnipresent we mean He's OMNIPRESENT. I am. He is with Adam as He is with Moses and He is with us and He is on the last day. He doesn't have a tomorrow. He doesn't even have a yesterday. I Am. How can men give God permission to do things? 😂😂😂😂 Things He has settled before they were born? One that no leaf can fall without His say so? The one that knows every strand of hair on all our heads and heads of everyone that has ever existed and will ever exist? What are you giving him permission to do? You that you don't even know what you should pray as you ought? You that He still has to make up for your infirmities after you've prayed. Think . Did you pray for all the good things in your life? Aren't there things you literally just found yourself in? How can God be waiting for permission before He does good and extinguishes evil. If God was waiting for our permission, do you know how bad this world would be? Think. What about men who refuse to give God permission in their own lives but their life will affect ours? Imagine if God was waiting for your permission to help you? Just imagine. All the plans and purposes that God had been working before you were even saved, while you were an enemy of God, which led up to this moment, did you give God permission to start them? Think. If you're thinking, you will have one honest question. How are men free? Isaiah answered it for us. Isaiah 46:10-11 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do. Read it slowly. God does as He pleases. The man He uses doesn't give Him permission. On the contrary He sends both men and animals to do His will. And these creatures will do it freely. They will hear His call and they will do it freely. He will not force their wills. They're not robots. They will co-labour with God freely to fulfil what He pleases. So that's what it means when David says He has given the earth to the sons of men. "Ye are gods" by imitation not by sharing in the Divine Essence. It means God will use men on the earth. It doesn't mean men are sovereign or can limit God. How can you be sovereign? You? You that can fall sick and die? You that can be a billionaire and your money won't save you from death? When you're beginning to get high on the pride of quasi-gnostic false doctrine, it's good to go a funeral or a hospital. Those places tend to give people sense. May the Lord give us understanding.
