🚨 LEAKED EMAIL RAISES SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT SURGERY PRIORITIES IN TASMANIA @TasLiberal @pulsetasmania @themercurycomau @theadvocatetas @OneNationTas @ExaminerOnline
A leaked email from the Royal Hobart Hospital raises serious concerns about the prioritisation of gender-affirming surgeries while patients wait for essential elective procedures.
Women Speak Tasmania is calling on Health Minister Bridget Archer to investigate.
🏥 Are elective surgery priorities being applied consistently?
⚠️ Are patients waiting for essential procedures being disadvantaged?
📢 Tasmanians deserve answers and transparency about how public hospital resources are allocated.

🎉 WE REACHED 4,000 SIGNATURES! 💜💛
Exactly two weeks ago today, we launched our petition calling for a parliamentary inquiry into conversion practices in Tasmania. We hoped for a good response, but honestly, we never imagined we would reach 4,000 signatures. We weren’t even sure we would get to 1,000!
The response has been overwhelming, and we are incredibly grateful. This has been a remarkable show of public support for proper scrutiny of the Greens’ Conversion Practices Bill.
At this rate, we might even reach 6,000 signatures if we extended the petition for another week. But we are not going to move the goalposts to suit an agenda. Our petition closes on 26 October, as planned. We will stand by that deadline.
💜 A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has signed and shared our petition, including the @ACLobby , @genspect , @lgballiance_aus , @OneNationTas , and the many other organisations, medical and legal experts, parents, teachers, politicians and Tasmanians who have supported this call.
A special thank you to @fergusonmichael , our parliamentary sponsor, for supporting the petition.
Four thousand signatures in just two weeks sends a clear message: Tasmanians want this legislation properly examined before it goes any further.
Now it is up to Premier @jeremyrockliff to step forward and support a full parliamentary inquiry into conversion practices, including the opportunity for people with relevant experiences to give confidential, in-camera testimony.
Legislation should be based on evidence, not assumptions or political pressure. We should not pass flawed laws hoping to patch the problems later, after the damage has been done. Good legislation must be built on sound foundations, with proper scrutiny, consultation and consideration of the consequences.
Evidence-based policy should be the standard we strive for. The wellbeing of children, families and the wider Tasmanian community deserves nothing less.
💜 Once again, thank you to every person who has helped us reach this milestone. Your support matters, and every signature counts.

🚨 OVER 3,500 TASMANIANS HAVE NOW SIGNED OUR PETITION!
@jeremyrockliff
The Greens’ Conversion Practices Bill is NOT fit for purpose. More than 3,500 Tasmanians are calling for proper scrutiny before Parliament takes it further.
Why the resistance to a full parliamentary inquiry?
Tasmanians deserve answers, transparency and evidence-based public policy — not political spin.

I am absolutely devastated about the attack on Helen Haines.
Australians can disagree but must never accept violence and threats.
The Prime Minister wants to lecture everyone about “turning down the temperature”. Well he can start by abolishing his dirt unit that was trying to undermine Helen.
I’ve heard you on the Lambie video. The cartoons have my name on it so it’s my responsibility and we will be taking that joke out given it’s a sensitive medical issue for her.

Statement from Senator Pauline Hanson, One Nation Leader:
I am horrified and saddened that Helen Haines has been seriously injured in an attack outside her electorate office in Wangaratta today.
My thoughts are with Helen, her family and her staff. I wish her a full and speedy recovery, and I know Australians everywhere are wishing the same.
Police are investigating, and we should let them do their work.
Violence against any elected representative, whoever they are and whatever they stand for, is never acceptable in Australia. Members of parliament and their staff must be able to serve their communities without fearing for their safety.
I thank the emergency services and the members of the public who rushed to help.

Dr Miranda Hann organised the “50+ health practitioners” letter backing the conversion practices bill. Names kept secret at the organisers’ request. 🔒 She is an AusPATH-listed GP who provides gender-affirming hormone care. 💉
Meanwhile 100+ Australian doctors who publicly called for scrutiny of puberty blockers & youth gender clinics put their names on the record — and were largely ignored by The Mercury. 🔍📰

Uniparty in action: Labor, the Coalition and the Greens just teamed up to block an inquiry into fair staffing.
The Prime Minister personally sets staff numbers for everyone, including his critics.
Labor: 507 advisers. More than 4 each. Albanese alone: 59.
Liberals & Greens: 1.5 each.
One Nation: only 0.8
We have an independent board that sets wages for politicians, why not the same for how many staff they get?
The major parties stop fighting each other the moment someone challenges the cartel.
Thanks to Senators Pocock, Babet and Payman for standing against it and supporting our inquiry.

🚨 Premier Rockliff: Honour your commitment!
Almost 2,000 signatures in just four days! Tasmanians are making their voices heard. 📢
In 2023, Premier Jeremy Rockliff stated:
🗣️ “It is important the Tasmanian community have adequate opportunity to participate in consultation.”
Yet the Greens’ Conversion Practices Prohibition Bill 2026 has been tabled without public consultation on the Bill itself, and submissions from legal academics, health professionals and community advocates remain unpublished.
⚖️ This legislation raises serious questions about children’s welfare, medical evidence, parental responsibilities and fundamental freedoms. Tasmanians deserve transparency, evidence-based policy and proper parliamentary scrutiny — not political slogans.
Women Speak Tasmania calls on Premier Rockliff to honour his commitment and establish a public parliamentary inquiry before this Bill proceeds further.
✍️ Have you signed the petition? Add your voice and share it with others! - Only Tasmanian residents
