Great time on all star panel @BuildingMuseum on how we can decarbonize, and make more resilient, our affordable housing, and why EVERYONE should care. @PallaviMantha & Linda Toth of @Arup & Marion McFadden of @HUDgov were on fire! Spotted faves @sarabronin & @DanielParolek too!

Missing Middle Housing types are key to affordability, but parking (and zoning that requires off-street parking) impacts the cost. Parking can cut net density in half and buildings with no parking may achieve higher densities & lower costs. @OpticosDesign cnu.org/publicsquare/2023/06…

This isn't a detached house with an accessory unit, it's a 7-unit "Mansion Building" designed by @OpticosDesign and being built near Omaha, NE as part of a 40-acre, 600+ unit neighborhood development. Super cool, and you'd probably never know the density just by looking at it.

Solving Massachusetts' housing crisis requires us to embrace a wide diversity of housing types. However, in most communities in Greater Boston, over 80% of land is zoned exclusively for single family homes.

The car-free neighborhood we @OpticosDesign designed for @culdesac is well under way. This recent photo is really starting to convey the quality of the courtyard spaces, varied massing, tight passages, and irregular paseos that were a core part of design. Thanks @ryanmjohnson

I cannot wait to walk these paseos and grab a drink in the main plaza of this car-free community my team at @OpticosDesign and I created in collaboration with @Culdesac.
Construction is now well underway at @culdesac, the country's largest car-free, mobility rich community. It's great to see this project coming to life! #walkablecities #carfreecommunities #missingmiddlehousing
