My sister became a vet because she wanted to be like James Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small. And she pretty much is. She and her husband bought a little farm in the mountains of North Carolina about 10 years ago and she has been working in vet clinics in the area. Out in the country like that, many people are forced to travel 'to town' to get veterinary care for their skittish farm dogs, barn cats, chickens, or goats. There is a real need for veterinarians who are willing to make house calls. This year she decided to take a leap of faith and she left the corporate vet medicine world to address this problem by opening her own mobile practice. And she'll see every creature you have, great and small, all in one stop! She's open now, though she still needs a few things to be considered fully operational (like an ultrasound machine). I don't usually ask people for money, but I know I have a lot of animal lovers on here. If you would like to send her a little personal support (not tax deductible of course-just love!) she's on 𝕏 @kearnsdvm and she has 𝕏 money activated. Anything you give will go directly to getting her mobile practice fully operational and help her help the creatures of rural North Carolina!

This is George. I know people don’t give a toss about each other anymore but George had to be put to sleep tonight as he had Lymphoma and was vomiting blood. I loved him with all my heart. See you on the other side Grumpy George 😘

A 3-year-old boy was kidnapped from a public library, and less than an hour later, he was sitting on a city bus beside the man who had taken him. The little boy was crying, and the other passengers had no idea he had been abducted. But when the bus driver looked at the child, he suddenly realized he matched the description of a missing boy police were desperately searching for. It happened in Milpitas, California. Bus driver Tim Watson had heard the police alert about a missing 3-year-old boy earlier that day. When a man boarded his bus with a crying child, something didn’t seem right. The more Tim looked at the little boy, the more he suspected he was the child everyone was searching for. But Tim couldn’t risk confronting the man. If he was the kidnapper, one wrong move could put the little boy in even greater danger. So Tim came up with a clever plan. He announced to the passengers that someone had reported a missing green backpack and began walking through the bus, pretending to search for it. As he moved past the man and child, Tim got a closer look and confirmed his suspicions. He quietly contacted dispatch to alert police, then returned to his seat and continued driving as though nothing had happened. All the while, the suspected kidnapper remained on board, completely unaware that the driver had recognized the child. Tim kept his composure until police were able to intercept the bus. Officers rushed aboard, arrested the suspect, and brought the little boy to safety. Thanks to one observant bus driver who refused to ignore his instincts, a terrifying kidnapping ended with a child being returned to his family. Tim Watson wasn’t a police officer or a trained rescuer. He was simply a bus driver who recognized a child in danger and found a way to save him without putting him at greater risk. Let’s give this incredible man the recognition he deserves.

Just got home from the doctors office where they discussed the results of my lab work. My blood sugar levels have dropped significantly and I'm close to not being at diabetic levels anymore. I started dieting about a month ago and significantly decreased my sugar intake and I've lost 22 lbs. so far, which is a good thing. The only bad thing is that my iron levels are high. I guess my liver is storing more iron than it should be. I have to go back this afternoon and give another blood sample so they can test to determine if this issue is hereditary. The doctor is 99% sure that it is hereditary, but they want to check to make sure. My daughter has the same issue with high iron storage levels. If it is hereditary, then all I have to do to remedy the problem is become a frequent blood donor. If it's not hereditary, then I have to go get an ultrasound to see if I have a mass on my liver, which I don't think I do. You know the old saying, getting older ain't no picnic. 😩 😩 😩

Update on this disgusting video: A GOFO delivery driver in Virginia Beach was caught on Ring camera throwing a package at a black cat named Opie who was just sunbathing on the porch. The cat (about 21 lbs) got hit, ran off, and was limping the next day. The driver came back later to apologize after the video went viral - through a TRANSLATOR app. The owner is considering charges, GOFO says they’re investigating, and animal control is involved. Leaving the package in the yard was always an option. Throwing it at the cat wasn’t.😡
This is just pure evil😡

My husband and I took Lena back to the vet this morning convinced that she is riddled with cancer. While she was getting x-rays done, we talked about how we might handle this…maybe palliative care to get her through at least Thanksgiving/Christmas so the kids can see her one last time. $1,300 later. Diagnosis: Gas. ☠️

Two toddlers, just 1 and 2 years old, were inside a Virginia home with their grandmother when a fire started downstairs. Upstairs, 12-year-old Ramir Parker heard a strange crackling sound and smelled smoke. When he stepped into the hallway, he saw thick black smoke rising from the basement. He immediately yelled for his grandmother, then ran toward the smoke and flames to get his little brothers. Ramir grabbed both boys, got them outside, and then made sure his grandmother made it out too. By the time firefighters arrived, the family was already safe. Fire officials later said Ramir’s quick actions likely saved their lives, and the city of Petersburg honored him as a hero. He was 12 years old. These are the kids the internet should be talking about.
