Finally got my wish: pens from @OutOnPatrol Society. As everyone knows, this is why I go to events and conferences. If there's paper, pens, pencils, or sticky notes anywhere in sight, I scoop them up like the Cookie Monster. Over the last 6 yrs, Out on Patrol has supported 2SLGBTQ+ law enforcement professionals in BC through mentorship, community education, youth outreach, and thousands of dollars in scholarships for students interested in various law enforcement careers. Thank you for your continued community service -- and, of course, for the pens.

Out On Patrol is thrilled to have received a $35,000 USD grant from the @MSIFoundation! Through this funding, we’ll be able to continue our Youth Outreach Series, which has been supported by the Motorola Solutions Foundation since 2021. Our Youth Outreach Series brings Out On Patrol into schools to connect with students, share lived experiences, and build positive relationships between 2SLGBTQ+ communities and law enforcement. The series also includes our scholarship program, which supports 2SLGBTQ+ youth pursuing post-secondary education who have an interest in a future career in law enforcement. We’re also currently accepting applications for our latest scholarship offering, with three $4,500 scholarships available for 2SLGBTQ+ youth! The deadline to apply is November 22, 2026. Learn more about the scholarships and how to apply at outonpatrol.ca/youth. Safety Workshop geared to 2SLGBTQ+ youth aged 12-18 being hosted by VPD's Diversity, Community, and Indigenous Relations Section in partnership with the Women’s Personal Safety Team: Friday, October 2nd, 4-6pm, The Landing Youth Centre, 1648 East 1st Avenue. My colleagues and I attended a similar event last year and found it incredibly informative. We learned about situational awareness, de-escalation, self-protection, and so much more. The physical component was very interactive and many participants left the event feeling more confident in their ability to handle difficult situations. Highly recommend. What a week for Out On Patrol! From making history at Vancouver Pride to representing our organization internationally in Amsterdam, it has been an incredible few days. At the @lgbtpoliceeu Conference 2026, Out On Patrol members took the stage to share our work with colleagues from around the world. Our other board members also had the honour of helping close the conference with some exciting news: registration is officially open for the 5th World 2SLGBTQ+ Conference for Criminal Justice Professionals @prideacrossbdrs, coming to Vancouver July 27 to 30, 2027. The conference is co-hosted by Out On Patrol and @BCPoliceChiefs, with the Vancouver Police Department serving as host agency. We capped off an amazing week by joining law enforcement agencies from around the world aboard the Dutch National Police boat for the Amsterdam Canal Parade, this year part of WorldPride. Cruising the canals alongside hundreds of thousands of people celebrating Pride was an experience our members will never forget. A special thank you to the @POL_Amsterdam Chief Commissioner Holla for joining us on the boat and inviting us to take part. Thank you to the EGPA organizing committee for an outstanding conference and to @Politie and @rozeinblauw for being such amazing hosts. From Vancouver Pride to WorldPride Amsterdam, what an unforgettable week!

What a day for Out On Patrol! For the first time since our public launch in 2020, Out On Patrol officially took part in the Vancouver Pride Parade, and we could not have asked for a better experience. Seeing our members walking together through the streets of Vancouver, surrounded by friends, family, colleagues, community partners, and thousands of people celebrating Pride, was pretty incredible. There were lots of smiles, plenty of cheering, and so much support along the entire parade route. For an organization that started six years ago with a simple goal of bringing 2SLGBTQ+ members of law enforcement together and building stronger connections with our communities, this was a pretty special milestone. A huge thank you to @vancouverpride for working collaboratively with us to reach this milestone. We are incredibly grateful for the open dialogue, partnership, and work that helped make our participation in this year’s parade possible. Thank you as well to everyone who supported us along the way, and especially to our members, friends, families, and supporters who came out and walked with us. And to everyone who cheered, waved, high-fived, and welcomed us along the route, thank you. You made our first Vancouver Pride Parade one we will never forget. Happy Pride, Vancouver!

Out On Patrol is proud to have a delegation of members in Amsterdam this week for the European LGBT Police Association (@lgbtpoliceeu) Conference. Prior to the conference, we had the honour of visiting the Embassy of Canada to the Netherlands in The Hague. @CanEmbNL We are grateful to Ambassador @AdsettHugh for welcoming our delegation and hosting us in his office, where we enjoyed engaging conversation with him and members of the Embassy team. We appreciated the opportunity to share the work of Out On Patrol and to have a productive conversation about the 5th World 2SLGBTQ+ Conference for Criminal Justice Professionals, which Out On Patrol is proud to be co-hosting with the BC Association of Chiefs of Police next year in Vancouver. Our delegation included representatives from the Vancouver Police Department, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), demonstrating the strong collaboration between our organizations in advancing inclusion and supporting 2SLGBTQ+ criminal justice professionals. A huge thank you to our CBSA board member and the CBSA Liaison Officer at the embassy for coordinating this visit, making this valuable opportunity possible. The warm welcome and meaningful discussions set the stage for a productive week, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations throughout the EGPA Conference. We can’t wait to welcome the global criminal justice community to Vancouver next year. 🇨🇦
