Designed by students, driven by SROs. This is how we do. 😎🚔 Five students from Thornton high schools won our first Design the Shield contest, and their artwork is now on the patrol cars our school resource officers drive to campus every day! Last week, we celebrated these talented students and their families at #ThorntonPD headquarters. Stay tuned, we’ll be featuring each student designer over the next few days. 👀

Officer Alijah Halliburton did not come from a police family. He had no intentions of becoming a police officer after college, so how did he end up in uniform and not just liking it, but in his words 'loving it' along the way? Ride along with Officer Halliburton as he shares his story, including a connection to a certain NFL quarterback star that dates back to their days at the University of Wyoming. Cooking with a Cop🍅 🧑‍🍳 👮 Douglas County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Office Burriesci recently put on his apron, that of course has a badge on it, at Sedalia Elementary, joining students for a special "Cooking with a Cop" class! Thanks to the school’s incredible sustainability program, they had fresh tomatoes and basil right in their garden to make grilled caprese sandwiches. Together with the students, our deputies took orders from Deputy Burriesci, cleaning, chopping, marinating, and assembling some truly delicious results. Grazie to Sedalia Elementary for having us and for reminding us that community, cooking, and connection make the perfect recipe! 💙

Justice. Kindness. Humility.   Three words. One commitment. Every day.   Behind the badge, beyond the uniform, and throughout our community, these values guide the work our officers do. From the moments everyone sees to the quiet acts of service few ever notice, the mission remains the same: serve with integrity, treat people with compassion, and lead with humility.   We don’t get every moment perfect, but we strive for excellence, showing up, doing the work, and hoping to make a difference.   Because public safety means more than enforcing the law. It means educating, earning trust, and building relationships.   It matters, Loveland. You deserve it.   #JusticeKindnessHumility

🚔 SPD DRIVER TRAINING AT FLATROCK! 🏁 Putting some of our older patrol vehicles back to work today at Flatrock! Sterling PD officers spent the day sharpening their driving skills through low-speed maneuvering courses and high-speed track exercises. These training days give officers an opportunity to improve their vehicle handling, decision-making, and driving skills in a controlled environment. And it’s always good to give the older fleet a little action! 🚓💨 Good day to train! #sterlingpdco #DriverTraining #PoliceTraining #Flatrock

Congratulations to K9 Zohan, who celebrated his retirement today alongside some of his K9 friends from surrounding law enforcement agencies! Zohan has actually been enjoying retired life for several months, but today BPD had the chance to officially say thank you and goodbye to one very good boy. 🐶 During his career with Officer Cornett, Zohan: ✔️ Conducted 455 vehicle sniffs ✔️ Assisted in 316 arrests ✔️ Helped seize more than 3,000 grams of meth ✔️ 1,200 grams of fentanyl ✔️ 1,100 grams of cocaine ✔️ 185 grams of MDMA ✔️ 40 grams of heroin ✔️ Helped recover 21 firearms ✔️ Helped seize more than $77,000 in cash ✔️ Assisted in 24 suspect surrenders ✔️ And had just TWO bites during his career! Pretty impressive numbers for a guy who now plans to spend his days napping, eating and enjoying retirement while continuing to live with Officer Cornett. His replacement, Louie, has already completed training and is enjoying taking over the watch from Zohan. Oh, and Deputy Chief Stutson took one last "bite" to the arm from Zohan while wearing the protective sleeve. 😆

🚨 A message from Chief Brice Current on road rage 🚨 We've all felt that flash of frustration behind the wheel - but a five-second delay isn't worth a lifetime of consequences. From tailgating to brandished weapons, road rage in our community is turning ordinary drives into dangerous situations. Chief Current's ask is simple: be considerate. You never know what the person next to you is going through. That car is two tons of steel - not a way to settle a dispute. If you are experiencing aggressive or threatening behavior on the road, do not engage. Create distance when you can and call 911. We all have somewhere to be. Let’s make sure everyone gets there safely. 🚗💙 #RoadSafety #durangopd #DriveWithCompassion #RoadRageAwareness #onedurango – at Colorado, USA

Slow down, move over and yield for emergency vehicles. Oh, and please, please don't drive drunk. Yesterday afternoon just after 4 p.m., we had a scary moment for two of our officers. They were on their way to another scene at a local middle school where a fight had occurred, and one student was being threatened with a knife. These are the types of calls that necessitate lights and sirens. We need to get there to keep kids safe. But, our officers didn’t make it because 32-year-old Aurora resident Anthony Robinson got behind the wheel intoxicated and did not yield to our officers. As they were clearing the intersection at South Peoria Street and East Yale Avenue, Robinson T-boned our patrol vehicle, causing it to overturn onto two other vehicles. Robinson initially attempted to flee, but his vehicle wouldn't get him far. We found him less than a block away and took him into custody. Inside his vehicle we found an empty bottle of liquor and drug paraphernalia. We don't share this video for the scare factor; we share this video to remind everyone of how important it is to yield for our patrol vehicles. When you see lights and sirens activated, it's for a good reason. Thankfully, both officers were seen for minor injuries and have since been released from the hospital. Oh and the call they were responding to yesterday? We subsequently located and arrested the teen involved in the fight. Robinson was arrested on probable cause of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, failure to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and driving without insurance. And a special thanks to those good samartians who stopped to help our officers, we are so grateful.
