almost a decade+ ago while working in big tech i changed my visible title to "applied generalist" because this is basically how i thought about myself from the moment i was on the internet as a kid. i didn't jive with product management cuz i wasn't supposed to write code (ppl would look at you weirdly if you did this), & i hated the idea of being just an engineer because ppl would just treat you like a code monkey, & i hated being in design because ppl often just treated you as a pixel pusher. legacy companies (which i now include big tech as part of) are still organized around highly specific roles like these + levels, & career ladders. i.e. your position in the hierarchy determines not only what you actually do but also how ppl interact with you. i remember walking into meetings with VPs who didn't know how to treat me cuz they couldn't place me in a ladder due to my lack of an officially sanctioned title. & i absolutely hated this existence with a passion. being pigeonholed into a narrowly defined function felt like wearing a kind of straitjacket. this is why the member of technical staff movement with ai companies is so damn necessary. if you as a company do not move towards a more general model like this, you will absolutely get left behind & alienate ppl who can perform across the spectrum.

Deactivating social media made me realise just how invisible I can be to people. No one calls. No one texts to check on me. No one seems to notice that I’ve gone quiet or wonder where I’ve been. It’s as if the moment I stopped showing up on their screens, I slowly stopped existing in their minds too. And there’s something deeply painful about realising how many connections seem to depend on your online presence. You can spend so much time interacting with people, watching their lives, keeping up with their updates and assuming you’re part of each other’s worlds, only to step away and realise how little effort some people make to maintain that connection outside of social media. It makes you wonder how many people genuinely think about you when you’re not constantly reminding them that you exist. How many would reach out simply because they miss you, want to hear your voice or care enough to ask how you’ve been. I know people get busy and silence doesn’t always mean someone doesn’t care. But it still hurts when you realise that if you stopped making yourself visible, you might stop hearing from people altogether. Disappearing from social media teaches you who remembers you when there’s nothing on their screen reminding them that you exist.

On this Kane Ballon d’Or, I have something to say that reflect my point when I talk about football and life. Look at Kane, he’s 33, look at the players around his age Neymar, Pogba, Dybala, Lukaku, amount others. Compare their Journey with Harry Kane. Can you see where I am going?? That’s life. 10 years ago, you won’t actually think Harry Kane will be a ballon d’or winner and Neymar highest finish will be third. Look at his career, till age 30. It’s always about the things he couldn’t win. But today he’s won the highest award in football. That’s also how life is, the journey might be long, might take another route different to others but doesn’t mean you’re late. There’s no late comer for success. Benzema played the most games before winning ballon d’or, Kane has played the second most games, yet it’s not a stat people remember. And that’s the thing about life, you can spend so much time looking at people around you and wondering why things are not happening for you at the same pace. You see people your age achieving things you are still praying for, people you started with moving ahead of you, and sometimes you begin to question whether you are doing something wrong. But Kane’s story is a reminder that everybody has their own journey. You can be good at what you do, put in the work for years and still have to wait longer than you expected before everything finally comes together. Imagine if Kane had allowed the things he couldn’t achieve at Tottenham to define his entire career. Imagine if he had started believing that the opportunity to win the biggest trophies had passed him by. Today, we probably wouldn’t be having this conversation the way we are having it. He kept showing up, kept scoring goals, kept improving, and when the opportunity came to take a different route, he took it. Sometimes, the problem is that we judge our lives based on where we think we should be by a certain age. At 25, you think you should have achieved this. At 30, you think you should have figured everything out. And when life doesn’t happen according to that timeline, you start feeling like you are behind. But behind who? Who decided that everybody must achieve their dreams at the same age? Kane is 33, and he has just reached a height many people thought he would never reach. That should tell you something. Your story is not finished simply because you haven’t achieved what you wanted to achieve by now. You haven’t failed simply because somebody else got there before you. And you are not late just because your journey is taking longer than you imagined. Keep working. Keep showing up. Keep becoming better at what you do. You don’t know how your story will end, and you don’t need to have everything figured out today. Sometimes, all you need to do is keep going long enough to see what your life can become. Harry Kane’s journey is a reminder that you should never be in a hurry to write yourself off. The chapter you are currently in is not necessarily the conclusion of your story.
Good morning 😁

i'm begging you: - pick 10 startups that raised a seed round in the last 6 months - sign up and use each product like a real customer for one day - write down every spot where you got stuck or confused - pick the 3 worst ones and record a 2 min loom showing how you'd fix them - send it to the founder on X with one line: "used [product] today, here's what i'd fix first"

Prostitution is necessary in any society that has income inequality This is because it reduces sexual crime from bottom tier men who would otherwise have no way to obtain sex from a woman At the same time it allows disabled and non-functional autistic people to have an outlet for their physical desires The only thing I support is frequent mandatory STD tests for prostitutes and people who use them. It could be free, and these men should also be offered incentives for sterilization.

If you have not put your personal affairs out there, especially on this app, please desist from doing that. There is no wisdom in it, for whatever reason you might want to. At first, it might seem like you are just doing your thing; sharing freely, living openly, or simply expressing yourself. But on a deeper reflection, there is no good return for it. There are so many people out there who walk around carrying hatred, evil minds, misfortunes, and personal frustrations. They are often looking for something, anything, to use against you, or waiting for the slightest chance to twist your personal affairs and score cheap points in a public discussion. Once it is out there, you no longer control how it is received or used. Protect yourself.

MBAs are so good. My God! It will change the way you think, the way you analyze problems, the way you make decisions. Like a sponge 🧽 you will soak up so much knowledge till you’re overflowing. Dont be fooled, it’s the most stressful thing ever, but it’s so good! If you want to hold leadership positions in the workplace or an entrepreneur running your own enterprise or maybe you just want to be more rounded and grounded, I highly recommend ⭐️⭐️

I had a TV interview a while ago... I couldn't go I decided to call one of my students "Can you to this TV station and talk about this?" The person chickened out and made an excuse. Could never had been me. The reason I'm where I am today (Even if I never reach anywhere) is because I take opportunities the moment they present themselves. I'll prepare on the way 😂 My first TV interview ever was in Lagos. I didn't tell them "I don't live in Lagos" I found my way there... Without excuses. When I was still doing graphic design professionally.... A client reached out and asked "do you make product labels?" I'd never made any before. I just said "Yes!" I got the job and I delivered. The idea is that if I no fit do am... I'll get someone who can... But this opportunity isn't passing me by. When it comes to taking opportunities, I'm ruthless. I'm always asking "how can I make it work?" Anyway... That's my TED talk See you next time.

The first time I washed a car for 15k at my car wash... The customer rejected my offer at first, and said we should just do the 1,500 wash for him. "Okay, sir!" When we finished, I showed him some scratches on his car... And told him the 15k premium would remove all of them. He objected by saying he would just use the car for one year before painting it again. Then I pressed further: "Don't worry, sir, your paint colour will come out better this time, and there would not be any need to paint by the time we are done" "We will restore your headlamp from dull to sharp and shiny, as if you just bought it" Then this... Then that... Next thing: "How much did you call it again?" "15k, sir" He shook his head and said, no. While they were arranging the footmats back into the car... I asked one of my guys to bring one of the waxing agents and the machine. Wore my gloves and asked the man if he would allow me to do just the trunk area for free... Just one side. He said no problem. Within minutes, I had cleared the scratches, and that particular area became brand new. But before I finished, he started negotiating for 12k. I said no, and reminded him of how much it costs to repaint a car. And also told him that he would not continue to paint his car at every scratch. He waited a bit and gave me the go-ahead. He eventually liked the outcome. I was happy; he was happy. And a good business happened. "But any business lesson?" Oh yeah, sure! See... The single greatest objection for any business is RISK. The risk that your business does not do what it said it would do for customers. Nothing pains a customer more than realizing that they have wasted money. Feels like a scam, right? We've all been there? Don't let the customer go. And don't reduce your price. In business, what I did is called Risk Reversal. You deliberately remove or reduce some of the uncertainty preventing customers from buying. And here are some ways to do this risk reversal thing: 1. Through demonstrations. 2. Through free samples. 3. Through free trials. 4. Through clearly defined guarantees. Let me bring it home: A woman is selling garri. A customer asks... "Madam, is this garri sweet?" Instead of shouting, "Very sweet! Very sweet!" Take your derica cup. Collect a little. Give the customer a taste. That's a product demonstration. Someone wants to buy popcorn. "Is it sweet?" Give the person a little. Let the product speak. You sell perfumes? Be generous to spray some, and even more than one, or five, and talk the customer into buying two, instead of one. You offer a service? Show your process, previous results, or a small demonstration of your competence. And where appropriate, offer a guarantee you can genuinely honour. Because... The more uncertainty you remove from a buying decision, the less persuasion you may need to close the sale. ... I'm The Mad Profit Guy.

“I will be unveiling my manifesto in four days, titled The Lagos Promise. It will contain seven pillars, 31 chapters and 100 pledges. I am the first politician in Africa to make pledges in my manifesto. I have read a lot of manifestos. 87 of these pledges are things you can hold me accountable for directly. If I do them, you can see it. If I haven't done them, you can tell me I haven't. The remaining 13 will be subject to the courts and Federal Government approval.” — Deputy Governor of Lagos State and 2027 APC governorship candidate, Dr. Hamzat, hints at his much anticipated soon-to-be-released manifesto on September 30. Beautiful! This man speaks with courage, and I hear the big-megacity vision in his voice. Hopefully, he restores Lagos to its rightful position of Africa's Model Megacity if elected. Kudos to all contestants btw! 👏
