This cocktail reception contravened so many Treasury Board rules that she should be immediately fired, and the Minister responsible held to account.
Any event involving hospitality that exceeds $10,000 requires explicit written Ministerial approval.
Rules for hospitality are in Annex B at the following Treasury Board directive:

Who can tell me about snakes?
We monitor WW for Arenaviruses, because they can be scary.
On several occasions we've detected Reptarenavirus sequences, sometimes a lot of it.
They only seem to infect boa constrictors and pythons.
How's it getting in WW?

The CBA says, "Canada's justice system works because Canadians trust that judges apply the law impartially."
But the law isn't being applied impartially. Judges and lawyers are increasingly factoring race into their work, Mirza being one of the fiercest advocates for this. It's disgusting. Now, he's let at least two men caught with loaded guns walk free in part because he diagnosed their arrests with racism. You can't possibly expect people to trust that.
Questions of criminal justice and judicial decision-making are open to the public. Instead of telling journalists what not to write, you should reflect on the damage racial sentencing and procedure are doing to your profession.

Hi all!
We're currently working on a study with Dwight Houweling @polymtl to better understand how municipal wastewater treatment plants evaluate the acceptance of landfill leachate.
This is an area where decisions are being made every day, but there is very little structured data on what actually drives those decisions, and what thresholds matter, what risks are tolerable, and what conditions shift leachate from unacceptable to acceptable for wastewater treatment plants.
This first phase of our study is a short, anonymous survey (5–8 minutes) aimed at WWTP managers, process engineers, process technologists and operators involved in process monitoring or engineering decisions. The goal is to ground the work in real operational insight and build toward a more rigorous analysis of trade-offs.
If you’re in this space, your input directly contributes to advancing how this problem is understood and approached.

POV: A guy with ChatGPT and Google AlphaFold just built a custom mRNA cancer vaccine to save his dog.
this story is actually insane.
a tech guy in australia adopted a rescue dog with aggressive cancer and only months to live.
so he did something wild:
> paid ~$3k to sequence the tumor dna
> used chatgpt to analyze the mutations
> used google’s alphafold to model the proteins
> identified drug targets and designed a custom mRNA cancer vaccine
he had zero background in biology.
after months of paperwork, the vaccine was approved and injected.
within weeks the tumor shrank dramatically and the dog started recovering.
meanwhile pharma companies are running $1B trials to do the exact same thing.
the future of personalized medicine with AI is going to be insane.
this is actually insane

> pay $3,000 to sequence her tumor DNA
> feed it to ChatGPT and AlphaFold
> zero background in biology
> identify mutated proteins, match them to drug targets
> design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine from scratch
> genomics professor is “gobsmacked” that some puppy lover did this on his own
> need ethics approval to administer it
> red tape takes longer than designing the vaccine
> 3 months, finally approved
> drive 10 hours to get rosie her first injection
> tumor halves
> coat gets glossy again
> dog is alive and happy
> professor: “if we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we rolling this out to humans?”
one man with a chatbot, and $3,000 just outperformed the entire pharmaceutical discovery pipeline.
we are going to cure so many diseases.

Some data that surprised me today: 30% of cancers in women in sub-Saharan Africa are caused by infections
This is mainly HPV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and H. pylori — all of which are preventable or treatable

Stephanie Ruhle on the Ontario/Detroit bridge: This bridge will take toll money away from another bridge that connects Michigan and Canada, and that bridge is owned by a big Trump donor who, on Monday, had a meeting with Howard. Lutnick. Immediately following that meeting, poof, we no longer want this new bridge.

Rules of thumb when reviewing Massie votes:
1) make sure he’s voting on what you think he’s voting on
2) if he doesn’t vote w/ the party the bill has provisions that take away your rights.
3) if he’s the lone “No” vote take notice. Something in the bill is REALLY bad.

Thomas Massie just put Pam Bondi on the spot over the Epstein files cover-up.
And it was explosive.
“I caught you red-handed!”
“This is bigger than Watergate.”
“This cover-up spans decades, and you are responsible for this portion of it.”
Watch this bombshell moment:
“This email was a list of names not to release.”
“What did the DOJ do with this email?”
“They released this email in the document production.”
“Literally the worst thing you could do to the survivors.”
“The next document I want to show you … the title of this one is Child Sex Trafficking Co-Conspirators.”
“Fully redacted.”
“I’m gonna un-redact them here.”
“Les Wexner is in this.”
“The third exhibit that I have … these are the documents that we need, that you’re over-redacting, because they have the names of the men who are implicated.”
“Who’s responsible?”
“Are you able to track who it was that obscured Les Wexner’s name as a co-conspirator in an FBI document?”
Bondi: “I believe Wexner’s name was listed more than 4,000 times—”
Massie: “Yeah, I already told you that.”
“This is where he’s listed as a co-conspirator.”
Bondi: “Within 40 minutes, Wexner’s name was added back—”
Massie: “Within 40 minutes of me catching you red-handed!”
Bondi: “Did you ask Merrick Garland that the last four years?”
Massie: “I’m glad you’re asking about Merrick Garland, because this is bigger than Watergate.”
“This goes over four administrations.”
“Let’s go back to Obama.”
“Let’s go back to George Bush.”
“This cover-up spans decades, and you are responsible for this portion of it.”
