Climate anxiety can be overwhelming. Professor Sarah Ray speaks with Yasmin Tayag and Natalie Brennan about how current climate concerns compare with the existential crises of previous generations, and how to minimize doom loops and inaction. theatln.tc/ePUIiVQf

FYI, it’s not really a ‘goal’ if: A) No one is doing anything to try & achieve it. & B) It’s become impossible to achieve without a time machine.

All good things must come to an end, even John Calipari and Kentucky. Calipari brought the program back to the highest of heights, but in the past four years, the decline is inexcusable. The bond between fan and coach feels broken. COLUMN: on3.com/teams/kentucky-wildc…

I am grief-stricken. On many levels.
The first global temperature data is in for the full month of September. This month was, in my professional opinion as a climate scientist – absolutely gobsmackingly bananas. JRA-55 beat the prior monthly record by over 0.5C, and was around 1.8C warmer than preindutrial levels.

Politicians passing laws banning books to protect children while passing laws to turn those children into laborers.
This week, the Iowa State Senate ratified SB 542, the most extreme entry in a wave of recent bills to make child labor—formerly viewed as a relic of the worst excesses of industrial-age capitalism—the new American normal. bit.ly/40urSOX

KY’s state government will be unable to compete for a share of $4.6 billion to reduce heat-trapping greenhouse gasses because it’s one of only four states that didn’t apply for up to $3 million to create a climate action plan through a new federal program. kentuckylantern.com/2023/04/…

I wish everyone would read this powerful column from @lbblackford in Lexington about the Louisville shootings. It's thoughtful. It's exasperated. It's ... angry, as we all should be about this plague of gun violence. Read it. Feel it. kentucky.com/opinion/linda-b…

This is happening around the country in a city daily. Today was our turn in Louisville, KY. As we hold our community tighter there must me outrage and anger. We live in a war zone and we shouldn’t have to.

“We are deeply disappointed by @POTUS’ & @SecDebHalland’s approval of the Willow Project today. We have a moral obligation to protect our climate. This project that locks us into decades of fossil fuels is a huge step in the wrong direction.” - @revhendershot #StopWillow

As a people of faith, how do we go about observing Black History Month in a context where books, curriculum, and entire courses that center the black experience in America are targeted as woke propaganda and banned for being toxic and too divisive? drive.google.com/file/d/1n0n…
