Elections are local. Candidates and campaigns matter. National trends exist, but this fall, beyond what I believe will be record mid-term turnout, we will also see massive ticket splitting that won't fall neatly into any one box, no matter how hard we push.

Burning Man peaked in size in 2019 and has been in decline since then - at this point the median age is 40 and the share of people in their 20’s is a third of what it was a decade ago.

Interesting post-mortem on WI's Dem primary polling from @gelliottmorris and a strong case for using actual voter-file behavior to understand who is likely to show up. “Weighting data to targets from the L2 voter file largely fixes the observed error. Weighting choices alone were worth roughly 10 points of margin here.” The analysis found that L2 voter-file universes showed an electorate dramatically older than the polling samples and re-weighting to L2 targets cut the August poll’s margin error substantially.
