I'd like to reiterate David's comments. It's time to leave this appalling cesspit and move elsewhere. Bsky is the place to be. I've returned here only for this single post. @BBCRadio4 #YouAndYours

For days, I've wondered why the PM was so slow to call in the army to deal with these riots. Today, I've come to understand why; he knows what the far right is attempting to do. ๐Ÿงต

We used to say Brexit was like watching your local library being burned down by people who canโ€™t read and now it has actually happened.

One of the most reasoned voices out there. I hope Parliament can be recalled and Farage et al can feel the full force of views from our freshly appointed using the maximum extent of Parliamentary Privilege. Empty chair them if necessary.
It's impossible to view the postings of Farage, without utter revulsion. He masquerades as a " reasoned commentator" on what he claims to be a national crisis linked to immigrants while claiming he deplores any lawlessness. Then he hints at more lawlessness if his warnings are not heeded. The reality is that his entire political future is dependent on fomenting confrontation and division. It is by creating a climate of crisis that he has got where he has. And some of my former Conservative colleagues have argued the Conservatives should be linking up with Reform! Perhaps this shameful episode will open their eyes to his malevolence.

Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped, thinking he had completed the race. A Spanish runner, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him and, realizing what was happening, started shouting at the Kenyan to continue running. Mutai didn't know Spanish and didn't understand. Realizing what was taking place, Fernandez pushed Mutai to victory. A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win." The journalist insisted, "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win. The race was his." The journalist insisted again, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him and replied, "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor in that medal? What would my mother think of that?" Your comments on this

The public finances are in such a bad state that absolute necessity of rejoining at v least the SM is such that if the government doesn't do it, it is a dereliction of duty.

If they had concerns, they should have expressed them at the Ballot Box. If they did vote for parties that shared their views, then they lost. Resoundingly. These riots are an attempt to undermine democracy and, specifically, a Labour Government.

Very interesting commentary on BBC Radio4 PM at around 6.10pm from @dominicgrieve_ . Good to hear uninflamitory discussion. Hoping Police and Gov't can get topside of these thugs quickly. Commit a crime Tuesday and get a prison sentence Wednesday. That'll send a stark message. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Likewise, a new term for me that helps to describe current events & their agitators. @mrjamesob, any chance of discussing this on Monday? Is it a fair assessment of current events, is it a term we need to bring to common usage? Inclined to say 'yes' but greatly value your input.

Brexit. Remember when we had just in time supply chains with the EU, as my local garage explained they could order a part one day and it would be there the next. Now waits are days, sometimes weeks This is why as refreshing and welcome Labour are, keeping us outside the EU Single Market slows our growth, and makes us less productive - how many hours have been lost while people swan around waiting for their car parts ๐Ÿ‘€
