Representing aerosols explicitly in global km-scale atmospheric models allows us to study phenomena not resolved in traditional climate models. This is possible through the development a reduced complexity version of our detailed aerosol model HAM, named HAM-lite.
I am super excited for our paper on the global km-scale ICON-HAM-lite aerosol-climate model to be out for discussion in @EGU_GMD!
Led by Philipp Weiss in @ClimateProc @OxfordPhysics as part of the @nextgems_eu project!

Welcome to our fantastic @IntelliEarth @UKRI_News Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for the Environment cohort at @UniofOxford! Two weeks of training in software engineering and environmental data analysis completed, on to Responsible AI for the Environment next week!
This work is conducted under the auspices of the @WCRP_climate @GEWEX_WCRP GEWEX International Aerosol Precipitation (GAP) initiative, co-chaired by Sue van den Heever @Sue_vdH, Guy Dagan and myself.
Does air pollution affect global precipitation? It's complicated!
We invited leading experts to a workshop at @OxfordPhysics supported by @ERC_Research to assess.
Take a look at our findings in @NatureGeosci : rdcu.be/dQueH

Wow! So well deserved! Apart from his amazing impact and contributions, Gustau is also a most wonderful person, and a honor to work with together in @iMIRACLI_ITN. @isp_uv_es
Prof. Gustau Camps-Valls got the 2024 IEEE David Landgrebe Award of @IEEE_GRSS for outstanding contributions to #remotesensing image analysis and #MachineLearning.
Deeply honored & thankful to his team and collaborators! Award presented at #IGARSS24 #IEEE #IGARSS
Congrats!
So excited for our paper on aerosol-climate interactions in global kilometre-scale simulations now to be available as pre-print. Its framework of idealised aerosol perturbations will shape our future global km-scale model intercomparison in @GEWEX_WCRP egusphere.copernicus.org/pre…
I really enjoyed the @royalsociety @theNASciences US-UK Scientific Forum on Science in the age of AI over the last couple of days. If you still have doubt if AI will transform your area of science – think again.

Looking forward to our AI for the Future of Climate Prediction workshop (aiforgood.itu.int/event/ai-f…) and moderating the session Taking the pulse of the planet at the @AIforGood @ITU @UN Global Summit 30-31 May 2024 with speakers Bjorn Stevens (MPI-Met) and ClaireMonteleoni (Inra)!
Hugely excited to watch today’s #EarthCARE launch @CleanCloud_HE ! It might have been delayed a bit - but couldn’t be more timely! Fingers crossed!

Huge thanks Thanos @LAPI_epfl for the fantastic work as PC co-chair and for all the outstanding work for @EuroGeosciences @EGU_Atmos !
#EGU24 ended & my co-chair duties with it. An amazing honor & experience to work with this team, establishing a stable, inclusive & versatile hybrid GA with memory at all levels. Thank you all, and cant wait to see #EGU25! @EuroGeosciences @EGU_Atmos @epflENAC @cstacc @FORTH_ITE

Ever wondered why convective clouds have a near zero radiative effect? It's more complicated than it seems!
Nice insights from a Lagrangian perspective in our @esaclimate @esa Cloud #CCI+ project paper led by @willk_jones @ClimateProc in @EGU_ACP :

We think it's great when scientists are comfortable enough to bring their kids to the General Assembly, but we know that sometimes you need a little help keeping them busy, so for #EGU24, try the FREE EGU #ColouringBooks!
Download yours today: egu.eu/6GVCJD/ #sciart

I can't believe that #EGU24 is almost here! Looking forward to seeing you at the most diverse, inclusive, educational, fun-packed and record-breaking @EuroGeosciences General Assembly to date!
Only 6 WEEKS to go until #EGU24! So what's happening in March that you need to remember to do, whether as a convener, an author/presenter or as an attendee? Check the March EGU24 Update email to get all the info you need.
