Yikes. Anthropic just pulled the exact accounting trick that companies did in 2000 bubble for IPO. They hid all their expenses via convertible notes redeemable at IPO. $108 billion worth. Dotcom firms often paid suppliers, ad agencies, lawyers and even landlords with stock or equity to save cash. AOL swapped shares for services and ads (e.g., Homestore, DrKoop). Telecom suppliers like Lucent, Cisco and Nortel used vendor financing, sometimes with equity or warrants, to drive equipment sales.
So we’re all in agreement Anthropic was paying all of its expenses in convertible notes?

In 1932 Hitler’s party was elected in Germany. Within weeks the newly founded Bank for International Settlements in Basel was arranging a Wall Street syndicated loan for $125 million to reindustrialise and rearm Germany for the next war against Russia. The loan was renewed at term. In 1934 FDR made all ownership of monetary gold a criminal offence and expropriated all the gold reserves of citizens, corporations, and the Federal Reserve Banks to the US Treasury at $35 an ounce. If I received a letter like this I would urgently start exploring protecting my wealth OUTSIDE the United Kingdom and relocating military eligible youths to universities abroad as they neared draft age.

This is fucking awesome and gets better by the minute. Worth watching. Norman Finkelstein explains why there were only 100 thousand Holocaust survivors in 1946 and why the numbers got inflated to the “level of absurdity” by the mid-1980s.

Many PhD programs have been conveyor belts for a while now. Learn enough skills to get "good" publications and a "good" job while you are there. xitter.cf/drumm_colin/status/211…
The biggest reason for the decline in quality of university discourse even on its own terms is simply that phd students arent being given enough time in grad school to fuck around and go down some dead ends and find a project. They arent being given the space to take risk

Asagida finansallasma dedigimizin olusmasinda en onemli etkenlerden biri aciklaini. Basel kurallariyla bankalara endustriye degil ev/arsaya kredi yarat denildi. Ama bu neden yapildi? Cunku baska care yoktu. Once Almanya/Japonya sonra da Cin ABD'yi xitter.cf/ctindale/status/211176…
I spent 35 years building banking systems for banks worldwide, including central banks. I know how banks decide where their money goes. When you build systems, you have to make them work, so you have to know how they work. The Basel Committee de-industrialised the countries that adopted its rules. It's that simple: I explain the whole complicated mechanism in my essay. They simply regulated it away because that was the most profitable thing to do. It was implemented in such a systemic global way, and nobody seemed to notice Capital is what a bank must hold before it can lend, the way a manufacturer or miner must hold supplies before it can sell. No miner doubles their costs to serve one group of customers. But that's what the banking system does to miners and manufacturers. Since 1988, the Basel rules have required banks to hold twice the capital against a factory loan as against a home loan, and under Basel III the gap reaches five times. So banks lend less to industry and more against houses. It should be stopped tomorrow. Manufacturing's share of GDP fell in ten of the eleven countries I examined. In Australia it fell from 13.7% to 5.4%. Every other country that followed fell as well. The only truly crafty ones were the Koreans, who did a good job of offsetting it. Regulators were warned in writing that the rule would steer credit, and they adopted it anyway. No parliament voted for it, and it's simply too dumb to keep doing, but we do . Not today; there is no justification. Yet from India, across Europe, across the US, including Australia, sanctions against industrial capacity. Financialization has gone too far it needs to be reviewed . The charge is manslaughter by gross negligence. The mechanism is proven. Same Rules, Different Ruins:ctindale.substack.com/p/same…

uretimde yakalayip gecti. Dunya capinda uretim kar marjlari cok dusuk. Kar marjlarinin hala yuksek oldugu finansal kapitalizme gecmek Anglo-Sakson ekonomileri icin tek yoldu. Yani bazilarinin zannettigi gibi finansallasmayi geri cevirirsek endustriyel-kapitalizm geri gelecek yok.

13,000 kisi nasil begenir boyle bir tweeti? Insanlar takim tutar gibi iktisatci mi tutuyorlar? Basindan sonuna hatali argumanlar. En basta faiz indirimi neden guven arttici olsun, cogu zaman MB'lari faizleri kriz zamanlarinda indirir tam tersine. Ayrica xitter.cf/mahfiegilmez/status/21…
Normal koşullarda Merkez Bankası faiz indirdiğinde borsanın yükselmesi gerekir, oysa düşüyor. Neden? Çünkü güven kaybını faizle giderebilecek ortamı çoktan yitirdik. Hukukun üstünlüğünü sağlamadan, demokrasiyi yeniden oluşturmadan ekonomiyi toparlamak mümkün görünmüyor.

My parents paid $16,000 for the house I grew up in. It’s now worth $783,000 on Zillow. Sounds like they made a fortune, right? In gold terms, that house cost 450 ounces in 1962. At today’s gold price, it’s worth 250 ounces. The house actually lost value. Politicians get away with robbing working class people blind because most people don’t realize their nominal gains aren’t real gains. They think they’re inflation-adjusted rich, but they’re not.

AI Token spending has completely collapsed the last two months. There has been zero growth in the AI sector, that's why pre-IPO shareholders in Anthropic and OpenAI are panicking to go public. Brad Gerstner is a pre-IPO investor, that's why he's been on CNBC telling everyone to buy AI. The bubble popped in July 2026.

Anthropic's annualized revenue run rate was just leaked, showing it peaked back in July 2026. That month sounds familiar doesn't it? 🤨 That's exactly when the psyop Jacob Coxon was deployed across all mainstream media, scaring everyone that AI would destroy the world. Now we know why AI companies are panicking. Their revenue has peaked but their costs keep rising. They've run out of funding because flat revenue = no more "investment" loans, yet their cash burn rate is still skrocketing. They need a taxpayer bailout to continue spending a.k.a. "regulation".
