parenting a child who has no spoken language is difficult enough without "neurodiversity affirming" people online saying they "get the ick" when they see parents talk about being sad that their kids can't speak to them. it's framed as us "not accepting our kids." GTFO.

The obsession of some autism self-advocates have with pretending they have it just as bad as people with profound autism is genuinely bizarre. People with profound autism obviously have greater needs than we do, why are we even pretending that isn't true.
Autism is never โ€œmildโ€. Sone people assume โ€œprofoundโ€ autistic people have greater needs. I argue no, their needs are just visible. Needs are different, never less.

With #autismawarenessmonth comes โ€œautism is a gift!โ€ โ€œAutism is not a disability, itโ€™s a different ability!โ€ โ€œautism is a superpowerโ€ Does this look like a superpower to you? Profound autism exists, and families are hurting. #autism #profoundautism

Iโ€™m beginning to have a little pet peeve of people discussing how difficult profound autism is and having someone chime in and say โ€œwell Iโ€™m autistic and I have a PhD and a wife and a thriving Etsy shopโ€ thatโ€™s not profound autism

yes, that was an odd decision. as the sister of a severely autistic individual, who has never uttered a word, I am stunned to see the term "autism" now applied to highly functioning, seemingly high-IQ persons who are university professors. de facto, the very term "autism" is all but meaningless.
Replying to @JoyceCarolOates
NO WONDER including Asperger's syndrome jacked up the rate of "Autism" ! Who goes among us that does not even NOW at least marginally qualify? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿซฃ

In the test where Mia AND MOM are blindfolded, an object is placed on a (LOW!) table then hidden, then blindfolds are removed and Mia spells the answer. Mom is wearing a Mindfold. She adjusts it right before the test starts. She can see everything.

The Center for Inquiry is offering half a million dollars to any โ€œtelepathicโ€ autistic kids from the Telepathy Tapes who can demonstrate their powers under controlled conditions. Any takers???? I didnโ€™t think so.

I am a member of the 26.4%. RFK Junior is giving me a voice and I am eternally grateful for that. My son is 22, nonverbal, not toilet trained with severe autism and we will be his caregiver for the rest of his life. We dedicated our farm to him. andys.farm
๐Ÿšจ RFK JR: โ€œ26.4% of people with autism have profound autism โ€ฆ Many of them regressed when they were maybe 16 months to 3 years of age. And that has never happened in history before where a perfectly healthy child, suddenly becomes intellectually disabled at 2 years old.โ€

If weโ€™ve learned anything this last week, itโ€™s that we need to end the autism spectrum. Severe autism is nothing like high functioning autism. Itโ€™s doing nothing to help by lumping these diagnosis under one umbrella. Back in the day, high functioning autism was called Aspergerโ€™s. We need to get back to that.

what yall don't realize is in the autism community, moms who say, "i wish my child was not so disabled. I wish their life was easier. i wish they could tell me if they were in pain. i wish they could call me mom" are accused of being ableist and wishing their kids didn't exist.

Where do we see the #autismepidemic? The massive growth in #autism cases in Medicaid, SSI and schools. The ever-growing number of autism classrooms, the bottomless need for more special education teachers and aides. The news reports of autistic children drowning, getting shot, needing jobs. The severe kids and adults locked in ERs with nowhere to go. The growing clamor for housing for ASD adults who cannot take care of themselves. The effects are everywhere. We must stop the faulty logic of "vaccines don't cause autism therefore there's no increase." Other things may be causing this phenomenon, enough with the dumdum oversimplistic messaging.

Autism has been taken over by "it's my special identity" crowd. Really hard to believe in a "spectrum". How one person can graduate from college & another person doesn't graduate from wearing diapers. The label has become meaningless. We all have a little autism, right? ๐Ÿ™„

I believe itโ€™s wrong to dismember and murder babies at 9 months in their motherโ€™s womb. I also think itโ€™s wrong to dismember and murder babies at 6 weeks in their motherโ€™s womb. Iโ€™m against all forms of murder of the innocent.
