It also avoided something the Sony SSU does in that Matt Hagan is not redeemable at all lol Everything bad that happens to him is a result of his actions, and any empathy you have for him fades when you realize he's a creep "acting" normal.

I think there are a couple of things that can compare, though they're not quite as obtuse and easier to stumble on when you're further along in the game

My favorite kind of Star Trek episode is when they're like
"Look at the program I made for the holodeck! It's called 'Everybody shoots you with bullets every second'!"
and then the safety protocols get turned off because of a space anamoly
It has some moments, but I feel like TNG, DS9, and Voyager already had humor that worked really well and didn't feel forced, and then you get wacky goofy comedy show that is just too on the nose.
In TASQ 2 things are absolute truths-
1) Anyone can be brought back to life if you have enough of their body parts
and
2) Anything that flies and has a stinger is for sure a BEE
