It's so painful to see catenary at St. Clair and Oakwood. We used to be a real City, I can't believe Olivia tore this all out.
Did you know Toronto used blue buses from Edmonton in the early 90s?

That was a lot of words to say: we don't really have these kinds of enormous warehouses sitting vacant & willing to take a golf tenant to stem the bleeding. There are some inflatable dome facilities but they're seasonal, & I don't think given the scale, they could afford the rent

It's also that since 2022-ish, industrial has been Ontario's hottest asset class. To the point where several traditional (res & comm) developers got into it & have done million sf + facilities. Fiera was just giving people $10/sf rent jumps & saying 'if you don't like it, leave'.

Brian, Chow took office in July 2023. Your own data shows crime surged under Tory, peaked in '23, then declined in '24 and '25 So why is Chow responsible for the increase she inherited, but gets no credit for the decline? Is this journalism, or just a grudge with a spreadsheet?
Chow and her supporters keep saying crime is down. Many in the media foolishly report this even though they could look at the numbers themselves. Year to date, more crime on the major crime indicators than the same time last year.

You can do incredible things when your primary driver isn't investor returns!

We don’t agree with Nick Kouvalis on much, but we do agree politicians need to have principles and that Brad Bradford has none. Brad went from a progressive who voted to defund the police to courting MAGA supporters. Why should you trust his word? Listen to Kouvalis yourself ⬇️

Nope, you are correct
They don't & we cannot. There's just no return on two storeys of res over retail that would give anyone appetite to do it. You'd also need the City to take land & subdivide it so small lots are created out of large parking lots. We simply cannot recreate the old urban patterns.

At least it was an awful thing that everyone hated and wanted gone so I guess he was right…oh wait… What a fucking loser through and through.

Also the fundamental driver is always going to be small lots. If the city isn’t willing to cut big parcels up, it’s just not going to happen from first principles.

That’s because ‘development’ as an endeavour depends on return & Line 4 & the Sheppard streetscape are perfect reflections of that return-based reality. What you’d get from doing something small / “urban” isn’t going to be worthwhile in the current cost / benefit calculus.

All embarrassing to a person.

Crazy. Did the TPA also put out a statement about Brad that I may have missed?

Where did he practise planning? He was never employed in the private sector and didn’t work for City of Toronto Community Planning, he was a gopher in @jen_keesmaat’s office. And she’s endorsing Olivia…
