Not sure when this started (probably with the anti-Ukraine arguments made by the right during 2022-2024) but this phenomenon where people pretend like the reason we dont have money for social services here is because of money going overseas is just another convenient isolationist boogeyman.
It has literally zero bearing. We could easily do both.
The reason we dont have strong social services here, is because we lack the political will for it. Republicans dont want to fund those things. Thats why they dont get funded. Not because they send that money overseas. The two things have zero direct relationship.
