definitely didn't think I'd find skates that were as fast as the @westcityec Oranges, but alas here we are! I recently restocked some West Lab Creams from @ProjectWCustom and to my surprise, found an extra pack of skates in them - Project W had included a set of their Accels. I gave them a try and was shocked - these were FAST. Shortly after, Project W announced their foam layer version, the Accel Aeros, which piqued my interest. Project W were kind enough to send over a set for testing as well as another set of my choosing (I chose the Stealths). I've been using the Accel Aeros on and off and wanted to leave some quick thoughts of their performance on glass. Like I mentioned earlier - these are definitely in the same speed tier as the WestLab Oranges. Comparatively, whereas the Oranges provide a smoother muted experience, these pick up quite a bit more of the texture of the pad, which I'd imagine is likely due to how they have more of a flatter and thinner shape. The addition of a foam layer also helps reduce the noise when moving your mouse across your mousepad, and also adds in some push in that you can lean into for more control. For any speed enjoyers that want texture, consider getting a set of the Accel Aeros to try out! Important to note that this was just my experience on glass - YMMV for cloth. The Stealths I only tested for a few minutes, but felt like a more controlled/ balanced set of skates. They were remarkably slow on my Ryo but quite leaning more balanced on the Mio, which might be due to how they interact with the heavy texture on the Ryo.

Recently got the @ProjectWCustom accel aero a few days ago and so far these are such a great option compared to a lot of skates on the market. Very smooth on glass ( cr005) and well rounded! Will update more after a bit of use! These skates are well priced for what you get!

My review of the @ProjectWCustom Accel Aero: These were sent to my by team over at Project W but they have made it clear they want my honest opinion, and that's what I'm here to give. Lets start with the technical stuff: Width: 6.6mm, Thickness: 0.80mm, Profile: Mostly Flat with a slight dome, Include a foam layer Testing Configuration: 4x4 on a CRDRAKO KO-One Pads: Glass: Midori The Return Glass edition, GLSSWRKS Polarity, Tekkusai Phantom Cloth: Pulsar PD170, Artisan Zero Soft, Matrova BalanceX Silicone, Xraypad AC Pro Neon Mid Now onto my thoughts! The big change from the normal Accel's are the inclusion of a foam layer. Which if you know me I absolutely love skates with foam on glass. With that new foam layer these reminded me a lot of West Labs Orange, very similar speed maybe a bit faster but it's so close that its really hard to tell. The Accel Aero's also have a bit more texture feedback as they are a bit thinner. So what does this mean for their ranking on glass? S tier, easily. It's well known by now that West Labs skates are some of the best value on the market and these match that. The Aero's have a great open feeling, low friction, nearly silent glide that is very pleasant to use. I enjoyed them on every glass surface I tried. On cloth there are some things that I think could use some improvement. The edges of these skates are pretty sharp and that combined with the flatter shape you can feel the edges catching on soft and even some mid pads. I would love to see a bit more rounding on the edges like Project W's own Stealth skates. Other than the shape the glide on cloth was smooth and on the faster side of speed skates. I enjoyed them the most on the PD170 and the BalanceX as they are both very firm pads, and lend themselves well to this speed tier of skates. I had issues with the sides of the skates catching when pressing into the Zero at all and with the texture on the AC Pro. As these skates stand now I would place them in B tier. Really just held back by the usability on softer pads. Overall on glass these feel like a direct upgrade from their Original Accel skates and are a great option in this price bracket. On cloth they are great on firm pads, and on soft pads they are almost there I think with a few changes to the edges and possibly the shape they would be fantastic.

A while ago I got the chance to try out @ProjectWCustom’s new skates and the feedback I gave them was I wanted to see the accel variant with foam and just recently I got just that! Introducing Accel Aero! I’m really excited to try these out and compare them to other speed skates that feature foam. Right off the bat though they are feeling FAST and ultra quiet. More on these to come.

Westlab Orange and ProjectW Accel Skates A quick review of these skates after a full week on them both! Orange: - Hardened PTFE + Noise-Reducing Foam - 0.7 mm thickness - 6.5mm diameter - Pronounced rounded edge - 20 Dots per pack Accel: - Pure PTFE - 1mm thickness - 6.5mm diameter - More balanced contour shape - 20 Dots per pack Tested Surfaces: - Tenta-X Issen (Glass) - GlssWrks Polarity (Glass) - InfinityMice Infinite Speed V3 (Cloth) - Tenta-X JadeFire Shinkiro (Cloth) My Initial Impressions: Speed lovers paradise! Low static friction is something I seek in a product and these dots allowed for that instant start feeling in different ways. They adapted fairly well to all surfaces I tried with minor issues based on what surfaces I was on due to skate thickness. True Performance: These two skates are nearly identical in speed, but the ProjectW Accel dots offer a faster overall experience across every surface due to their perceived smoothness. Because the Accel dots sit higher, they provide essential clearance that offsets "push down" effects on cloth pads, maintaining a consistent glide even under pressure. In contrast, the Westlab Oranges offer a very floaty and quiet sensation, but their internal foam layer means that pushing down on the mouse can create a noticeable variance in friction. Furthermore, the more pronounced edges of the Orange dots tend to catch on cloth surfaces more easily than the Accel’s balanced contour. However for my finger tip grip that I use, that foam layer in the Oranges provided a uniquely pleasant weightless floaty effect that had little effect on my game sessions. I'm sure claw/palm grips with bigger mice will feel these effects to greater lengths. Durabilty & Lifespan: After a full week of heavy use (averaging about 4-6 hours a day), I’m impressed with how well both sets are holding up. Even on the more abrasive glass surfaces, neither set has become scratchy or lost its signature glide. Usually, with thin dots, you expect a fast drop-off in performance, but both the hardened PTFE of the Westlabs and the solid build of the Accels still have plenty of life left in them. They feel well-broken-in but nowhere near needing a swap yet. Cons: I have only one request. No tiny films on each individual dot please!😅 Conclusion & Value: Ultimately, both sets of skates are top tier options for anyone chasing the low-friction setup. If you use glass pads and want muted floaty performance, the Westlab Oranges are the pick. However, if you want that consistent buttery glide smoothness, the ProjectW Accels are your guy! In terms of affordability, both of these skate offerings are a very good budget pick in today's market of premium dot skates. These two have now been added to my go-to dot skate list: - UG Ice - Jade (Greens) / UG Green clones - Cyclone Pros - Westlab Orange - ProjectW Accel Thanks for stopping by! 🫶

Got the @ProjectWCustom Accel, Decel and Westlabs Orange dot skates and these skates for 4$ for 20 is insane value and the Westlabs are probably the best dots I've used I will be purchasing more and the blues to try (using both for cloth). The Accel are good on glass and cloth with the Decel being a little more controlled. This is probably the best deal on skates you can get I totally recommend and will be switching all my mice to the oranges / blues
