Two hours of rain. That's all it takes for many Indian cities to come to a standstill.
Meanwhile, Tokyo faces typhoons and keeps moving.
The difference isn't luck. It's planning.
Hidden beneath the city is a massive underground flood-control system that protects roads, homes, and lives before disaster strikes.
As extreme rainfall becomes India's new normal, should we keep reacting every monsoon—or start building for the future?
Would you like to see flood-control systems like this in Indian cities? Tell us in the comments. 🌧️👇

A visible crack has been detected on the Sinhgad Road bridge in Pune, raising concerns over the structure's safety among commuters and local residents. The bridge, which carries thousands of vehicles every day, has come under scrutiny after the damage was noticed by citizens.
Residents have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the concerned authorities to immediately inspect the bridge and conduct a detailed structural audit to assess the extent of the damage. They have also demanded that necessary repair work be undertaken without delay to prevent any potential risk to commuters.
With heavy monsoon rains continuing across Pune, citizens have expressed concern that the condition of the bridge could worsen if timely action is not taken. They have called on the authorities to ensure the bridge is safe for public use and to make the inspection findings public.

🌧️ Not even a single drop of water has been released from the dams... yet Pune's rivers are already full.
Today's rain is a reminder that the problem isn't just rainfall—it's the way we've built our city.
100 mm of rainfall over just 1 sq. km is equivalent to nearly 10,000 water tankers of water.
Now imagine that across 350 sq. km of Pune.
That's around 35 lakh (3.5 million) water tankers worth of rain falling on a city that is rapidly turning into concrete.
Where will all this water go?
Without soil, wetlands, and green cover to absorb it, rainwater rushes into drains and rivers, resulting in flooding instead of groundwater recharge.
Trees are nature's most effective water management system. They slow down rainfall, increase infiltration, recharge groundwater, reduce flooding, and help secure our water future.
Protect trees. Protect Pune.

She is Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, her job to look into the city’s infrastructure.
But when the entire city is drowning, she chose to ask common people to go home who were sitting outside in order to look responsible.
BJP leaders try to do everything instead of their assigned work. And why can’t she carry umbrella by herself?
