Rarely in recent years has a Tory leader received such uncritical coverage in the Conservative press as Kemi B this morning. They want her to do well. That’s fair enough. But it probably means a three year election campaign

Dangerous stuff from Badenoch. Reform politicians measuring up curtains for prison cells

Why don’t Sky commentators call out boorish behaviour by the likes of Macintyre and Hatton smashing their clubs into tee and bunker after bad shots ?

Insider view of Treasury in Heywood Quarterly from John Kingman, ex 2nd perm sec. Deep down it believes it alone stands between country and vested interests ranged against it, which if given in to, will take us to financial disaster. This belief is ‘not altogether fanciful’

Interesting poll this morning. Perhaps the commentators who opined Reform were a shoo-in a year ago a little less breathless now - could not believe some of the excitable stuff I read and heard

Can we have a ban on chancellor/PM/ANother refuses to rule out stories? They are lazy and mean nothing. Just because something is not ruled out does not mean it will happen . Ruling out something is a story.

Nick spot on here as usual.
A letter I wrote to today's Times: we need to be better at living with difference. @Pwebstertimes

Thought a friend was joking when he said Google had gone along with Trumps name for Lake Ontario. But apparently not! Utterly craven. It will always be Lake Ontario

What does Damian McBride and James Callaghan have in common? The latter headed all 4 great offices of state - PM, Home Secy, Foreign Secy and Chancellor. The former has served as special adviser to all four. David Cameron did PM and foreign and was Spad in Treasury and Home

Ed on the button here. Chris Goreham away commentaries must be saved
This can’t be true - and it’s not even April 1st - @CGoreham commentaries are peerless and relied upon by #ncfc fans around the world - and they are a hugely valued public service for many Norfolk based fans who can’t go to games - they are what the @bbc should be all about…

Nick at top of his game. Superb
Nick Robinson to Rupert Lowe: "Mr Lowe, you're a man with money and a grudge and a social media account who airs his prejudices on X and gets a hearing because you've got the backing of Elon Musk."

In sending back the Moroccans so quickly the Spanish have ruined a lot of predictable Sunday columns - not to mention opportunist politicos

Perhaps the “allies” who insisted that Treasury was straight fight between EdM and SM now realise they are not the “allies” they thought they were. There were far too many out there

Burnham uses the old Burnhamite walks into a bar joke to warn that he won’t tolerate factionalism !

Careful Stewart All us Norwich City obsessives are relieved the tension of the WC is behind us. We can now concentrate on the bigger objective - the Canaries’ push for the Premier League !
This is a great appointment. Matthew is a brilliant campaigner, a smart strategist & a kind, thoughtful man. And a Norwich City obsessive, but nobody is perfect.

There was not an England fan anywhere who would have thought that sitting back on a solitary goal v Messi was a good idea. So why could not the manager and players see that ? A waste

Utter failure to manage lead. Messi looked like a 21 year old. He was given far too much space . We probably should not have scored. Win on penalties only way for us !

Burnham insists no decision on chancellor
546
Of course it makes sense for Burnham not to take questions. Whatever he replied in answer to inevitable Miliband Question would have been story and not his northern No 10. And as a former pol Ed I know that all other pol Ed’s know that. So please guys don’t be sanctimonious !
