When state FDA does its jobs, scams in top hospitals get exposed, or else zero regulation 2018 Maharashtra FDA's meticulous investigation exposed how top hospitals in Mumbai were re-using one-time use consumables and charging multiple patients for same consumable @Tukaram_IndIAS

Humanising the science at the #WCLC26 Press Briefing. Behind every p-value is a patient - living with fear, uncertainty, and hope. Grateful to @IASLC for bringing the patient voice onto the same platform as researchers, investigators and media at the WCLC Press Briefing. 🫰 #PatientVoiceMatters

Not only Fake cancer Drugs~ Market is flooded with fake antibiotics, painkillers, multivitamins, steroids, cancer drugs, insulin, and even life-saving injectables. These counterfeits are packed in the exact same packaging, holograms, batch numbers and brand names of top Indian and multinational pharma companies. You cannot tell the difference. Patients are swallowing poison while thinking they’re taking medicine. Drug inspectors and regulators have turned into multi-millionaires overnight. Raids are rare, and the big fish never get touched. The entire system is for sale. When people die from fake drugs, the government issues empty statements and moves on. No one is held accountable. No heads roll. The racket continues because the people in charge are either incompetent, complicit, or both. This is not a “regulatory failure.” This is state-enabled mass poisoning.

I really hope those involved in drug rackets, not just this one but even the others we have been reading about since last few months all over the country, get death sentences sooner than later. I am yet to see the list of cancer medications, the list that’s circulating seems to be containing antibiotics which are as critical as anti cancer medications. Every single person who was aware of the racket and participated or stayed quiet about it deserves to be punished. But I genuinely doubt if treating doctors would be aware, no doctor wants their patients to fair badly, besides the obvious moral and ethical reasons, ineffective drugs give poor results and poor name in the long run. Would be counter productive even from purely business perspective. Hospitals too I doubt would will-fully sign up for poor outcomes and losing credibility. Can’t be sure of middle managers though. My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their battle to cancer, the ‘what ifs’ will haunt them forever even if the cancer had poor biology and outcome despite correct treatment. The only way forward to give some solace to the families is to give capital punishment to the perpetrators! Nothing else will suffice.
Authorities in Bengaluru are probing a suspected counterfeit medicine racket allegedly supplying fake and repackaged critical drugs to more than 90 hospitals and clinics. Around ₹5 crore worth of suspected fake medicines and equipment were seized, with investigators probing interstate links. #Bengaluru #BengaluruNews #CounterfeitMedicines #FakeMedicines #CancerDrugs #IndiaNews #IndiaTodaySocial @sagayrajp

We'll have to wait for the investigations, but if Veeresh Kumar Jain was truly responsible for this, it amounts to culpable homicide.

Patients in India & LMICs are fighting to survive; they shouldn't have to fight to be counted. Honored to speak at #WCLC26 about the fight for access to the right treatment and research. My messages: 1) We must do everything we can, so no patient is left behind by global science. 2) Global leaders in the room must use their privilege to speak up for the unrepresented regions left entirely out of the room. Kusum, this was for you. ❤️

India has 5.7% of the global lung cancer burden - but accounts for only 1.41% of global lung cancer clinical trials. At @IASLC #WCLC26, @urvashi01 & I represented @IndiaAlk to put this gap on the global stage. More research. More access. More lives saved. 🇮🇳 #LungCancer #ClinicalTrials #CancerResearch #PatientAdvocacy

Four ribbons, four roles - but one purpose: to make lung cancer care more patient-centric, equitable and human. As @IASLC #WCLC26 begins in Seoul 🇰🇷 - let’s make every voice count !! Losing Is Not An Option 🎗️

4-hour delay for a midnight flight ✈️😅 - but thankfully, an unexpected catch-up with the amazing and dear Dr. @ullas_batra made the wait so much better! 🫰 Good food, great conversations and wonderful company… a lovely start to the Seoul journey for @IASLC #WCLC26!

In the United States, there are about 20 oncology trials per 1,000 new cancer cases, compared with 5 or fewer in the LMIC countries. Investigator-initiated trials are particularly low: about 11.7 per 1,000 new cases in the U.S. versus 0.2–1.1 in the LMICs, we should not only participate in research designed by high-income countries. LMICs need to lead their own research and answer their own cancer priorities. Our paper in @OncJournal doi: 10.1093/oncolo/oyag356 discusses how increased public funding, research infrastructure, training, and international collaboration are essential to achieving this. @incanMX @detectoincan @UToracica @ReginaBarCar @LACOG_group @NarjustFlorezMD @DrClaudiomartin @GustavoWerutsky @cspramesh @orengo_james @CLICAP2 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4270…

Cancer care must evolve beyond “more treatment” to the right treatment, at the right dose, with the right balance of efficacy, safety, affordability and access. Patients deserve nothing less. Great work @Amolpatel_dr , and everyone involved.

Participated and presented at the Patient First Leadership Roundtable at the Constitution Club of India, hosted by IHW Council in partnership with Indian Medical Parliamentarians Forum. An important dialogue bringing together policymakers, Members of Parliament, healthcare & industry leaders, and patient advocates around patient empowerment and a truly patient-centric #SwasthBharat. The real value of these conversations lies in turning dialogue into action, policy change and better healthcare outcomes for patients. #PatientFirst #PatientAdvocacy #PatientVoice @IHWCouncil @IMPF10 @MoHFW_INDIA
