From anti-slavery campaigner, Ottobah Cugoano to musical pioneer, Winifred Atwell, I’m proud to represent a constituency which has long been home to Black Londoners. Their stories deserve to be recognised & celebrated for the many years to come.

The Addison Act, which marked the birth of modern council housing in the UK, received Royal Assent 107 years ago today.
Last year, we delivered the highest number of council homes in over 30 years.
Under @andyburnham we're going to go further to deliver a new era of council housebuilding.

Today the voices of division will be loud.
They don't speak for the country I know, one that belongs to all of us.

We have just introduced our Social Housing Bill to Parliament.
At its heart are comprehensive reforms to the Right to Buy including exempting newly built social housing for 35 years.
The Bill also increases protections for social tenants who are victims of domestic abuse.
