Wow, Notch giving a shoutout to the last game I was on at Lunarch is quite the honor Thanks for playing!
I feel like I'm only now discovering how good puzzle games can be if you actually try to deduce things instead of exhausting options. Any suggestions for games on par with The Artisan of Glimmith? Or anywhere near as good as it, honestly.

art is too perfect = AI art has mistakes = AI i dont like the art = AI i dont know anything about the art process = AI looks like the art AI originally stole from in the first place = AI

Unfortunately this was always going to happen When the art community made it their explicit goal to crucify anybody using genAI (whether or not its deserved is irrelevant here), this was bound to occur When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail
Man, I can't wait to have all my human flaws pointed out for everyone to see up close 😭 I miss when I could just draw stuff without constantly worrying if my references are AI or being falsely accused of using AI in my work

It's not predatory because there's an overabundance of artists ready for commissioning So in a sea of artists, if someone is willing to pay that price, then it's not predatory
As an artist myself I’m always for supporting artists and their pricing. However I think there’s a limit and this just seems extremely predatory based on what you even see on the market. :(

The Key Art for Islands of Insight was not done in house I actually remember physically driving to a UPS store in nowhere North Carolina to ship a USB drive with our project files because it was too big for cloud uploads. I have no idea how much the key art costs because it was commissioned by the publishers
This is getting silly - as someone working with big artists and agencies this is how the pro market in video games and general tv/movies works: Key art for a big IP: US agency - 100k usd (as they attach 20 ppl outside of thr artist that they in most cases don’t even have in house) Dedicated 2d agency that worked for RIOT (splash art) - 50k usd Top tier artist with big social following - 10-5k usd Top tier artists but not huge on socials - 3-5k usd Magic The Gathering quality lvl art - 2-4k usd Comic book cover artist - 1-3k usd (unless you are Mignola lvl) Indie Video game illustrator not from US - 1-2k This is for commercial work with the copyright attached - the same lvl art can be way cheaper for a indie studio or a passion project in between bigger more corporate work.

Also the longer you look at it, and if you familiar with the internals of the project, you'd see so many inaccuracies But that's the case for most Key Art

Altman says local inference is terrible because he wants to train on your IP data
Sam Altman says local inference is a terrible idea. Japanese companies did not get the memo. A consultant in Japan says he now gets requests to deploy local LLMs almost every day. His reason: GLM-5.3-Flash and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 hit near frontier quality. Both are Chinese. Both are open weights. Both run on hardware a company can own. That is what the cloud guys are scared of. Not that local is slow. That it got good enough. I run both on my 4x 3090. GLM-5.3-Flash does 58 tok/s here. Honestly, China did more for private AI in one month than the US labs did in years. teapawt.org/gosrum/status/21159447…

My aunt/uncle are deca-millionaires and they have nicer things like Range Rovers/Herman Miller furniture But really, they use like Sensodyne and Old Spice
Do rich people have elite versions of mundane things (toothpaste, tampons, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.), or are Elon Musk and Beyonce just using Crest and Tampax like the rest of us?

One thing they have noticed though is they don't take care of things for the most part $15000 tv? Trash it, get a new one

Can either of the big AI CEO's go five minutes without creating a PR disaster?
BREAKING: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says having RAM in personal computers is an inefficient use of the world’s limited DRAM supply, arguing it would be better allocated to data centers, per Tom’s Hardware

The economics behind AAA layoffs: AAA originally meant the highest credit rating: low risk of default. In games, the term should mean a proven, relatively low-risk investment with strong returns. FIFA, Madden and CoD fit that model. A $400M budget doesn't make a game AAA 1/10

Godot is not a serious engine or user base.
You know what really annoys me about Godot Engine? Akien is a bad product manager. Nobody there actually addresses PRODUCT issues, as in "this serves our users". They are always merging shiny object features instead of fixing BLATANT issues like this from 2019:
