Today at the Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX) in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador, we proudly joined Hon. Minister @SeanFraserMP and Hon. Minister Lin Paddock to announce a combined new $10 million investment to accelerate the buildout of Canada's most capable commercial spaceport. ✅ $1M from the Government of Canada through @ACOACanada ✅ $4M from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador (@GovNL) ✅ $5M of NordSpace's own private capital This builds on the $8.3M previously committed to NordSpace under the DND's IDEaS Launch the North challenge, and on significant capital privately raised by NordSpace already. Additional investments and contracts for the spaceport and our broader launch and space systems programs will be announced in the coming months. The ASX is being designed around the vehicles it will fly, anchored by NordSpace’s Taiga, Tundra and Tempest light and medium-lift vehicles. ASX is Canada's most capable commercial spaceport, offering the widest inclination ranges available in the country, the largest safety distances required for scalability to medium and heavy-lift vehicles, and the highest approved launch cadence in Canada. NordSpace is building the end-to-end capacity required to deliver against the Defence Industrial Strategy's mandate, with Canadian-designed launch vehicles, Canadian-manufactured propulsion, Canadian-held intellectual property, and Canadian-owned launch infrastructure all integrated within the country. NordSpace is Canada's only vertically integrated space missions company, committed to building sovereign space capabilities rather than relying on foreign launch vehicles and spaceports. The ASX is supported by three additional national sites: Rocket Factory 1 in Markham, being commissioned to host the nation's largest automated metal 3D printing and composites manufacturing systems; Area 66, our 50-acre propulsion test range in Eastern Ontario; and our Ottawa government affairs office. Together they give Canada a self-contained industrial capability across design, manufacturing, propulsion testing, launch, and satellite operations. Our commitment is to build a company that is sovereign itself, to support a sovereign Canada – launching Canadian vehicles, from Canadian soil, carrying Canadian payloads. The investment announced today will help NordSpace create high-skilled jobs in rural Newfoundland and Labrador, alongside employment in construction, transportation, professional services, and tourism in the region. We are grateful for the support from the Government of Canada, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Town of St. Lawrence. Ad astra, per aspera 💫 @NationalDefence @DRDC_RDDC @csa_asc @Transport_gc
