Melania Busted: A Shameless Attempt to Steal Credit from a Ailing Pope In a repulsive new low even for the Trumps, Melania Trump ignited a well-deserved firestorm Friday after her pathologically dishonest husband and his regime had the audacity to credit her with single-handedly securing a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in the city of Oleshky. The grotesque claim was instantly blasted by critics who called out the regime for trying to hijack credit from Pope Leo. In a display of true selflessness that puts the Trumps to shame, the cancer-stricken pontiff had already called Russian President Vladimir Putin to request the Oleshky ceasefire a full week before Melania announced her fictional deal. The Pope made that critical call from his hospital bed, where he is currently fighting for his life and recovering from lung cancer surgery. Yet, completely unbothered by the timeline, Melania's top adviser, Marc Beckman, shamelessly brushed aside the Pope's vital intervention to insist the achievement belonged to the First Lady alone. "Yesterday she brokered — single-handedly brokered — a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine within the area of Oleshky," Beckman bragged on Fox & Friends Weekend on Saturday. In a staggering twist of delusion, Beckman even claimed that Melania inspired the Pope to get involved, rather than the other way around. Equally detached from reality, Donald Trump is doubling down on his wife's rewritten history, telling reporters with a straight face that she is "doing better than the professionals right now." To top off the entire embarrassing spectacle, Melania herself later added, "It is great to have [the] Pope’s support."

Trump: We put up those big television screens, those massive massive television screens. You know how I know they are massive? Because they cost one million each. We had to buy two of them. That's a lot. We had it in Iowa. Iowa was fantastic last night. How about me. I come home, get into the building, get into a gorgeous White House that's now fully renovated and beautiful again. So I got my guys and we took the good ones and put it on the bad one and we cleaned up everything and we skimmed the entire building. It's so beautiful. We replaced the floor. We replaced the Home Depot one by one. The little ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. You buy the marble. It's about a half an inch thick like this. We replaced it with statuary. The white and black. Beautiful. That was Rome. That was Greece

NEW: A group of Catholic bishops prayed over President Trump in the Oval Office on Thursday, 12 days before the midterm elections, at a meeting organized by an official at the Heritage Foundation. A senior Vatican official called it “a highly inappropriate meeting and an insult to Pope Leo XIV.” In April, Trump called the pope “terrible for Foreign Policy,” and Vice President JD Vance warned that Leo should “be careful” when he talks about theology. thelettersfromleo.com/p/past…

I INSIST THAT YOU READ THIS. The first two answers are rather boring. But then, when journalists started grilling Trump about lifting sanctions on Russia in exchange for Steven Hubbard’s release, he began losing his temper and completely went off the rails. And yes, almost all the questions were about lifting sanctions. They barely asked him about anything else. Trump: “We are getting closer to settling this war, perhaps closer than ever before. Putin agreed to release Steven Hubbard. We gave nothing in return.” (We merely lifted sanctions on Russian diesel and increased pressure on Ukraine — my note.) Reporter: “Witkoff described Putin as a humanitarian. Would you describe him the same way?” Trump: “I think you can say something like that for a specific purpose — to free a man who thought he would spend the rest of his life in prison. We are negotiating with Russia to stop the war in Ukraine, and we are pleased that Russia is staying out of Iran. We flattened Iran. The last thing I want to do is cause damage when we are so close to settling the war. The last thing I want to do is something terrible. If we had done what these stupid people wanted [imposed sanctions on Russia], he [Hubbard] would never have been released. Whether people like it or not, Russia could have become much more involved in Iran, and so could China.” Reporter: “You’re heading to South Carolina to campaign for Darlene Graham, the sister of the late Lindsey Graham. What did she tell you about lifting the sanctions on Russia that they fought so hard for?” Trump: “I’ll tell you something interesting. As you know, we have a gentleman coming home from Russia who was captured four years ago during the Biden administration. That would never have happened if I had been president. We are negotiating with Russia, and a lot of stupid people who don’t understand how life works are asking, ‘Why are you doing this?’ If I hadn’t done it, Hubbard wouldn’t be coming home. You know nothing. You’re fake news, CNN. I got him out because I had very good and very quick negotiations with President Putin. We are negotiating with Russia over Ukraine. We may be closer to a deal than ever before, and this is not the moment to impose sanctions.” Reporter: “But sanctions in exchange for his release…” Trump: “You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re a low-IQ person. You’re stupid, and you work for CNN. If I’m negotiating and getting someone released from prison in Siberia or somewhere else… Biden should have brought him home, but I did. If I had imposed sanctions at that moment, the negotiations would have ended immediately. Use your brain.” Reporter: “Was it Elon Musk who ordered Starlink to be shut off?” Trump: “I don’t know who it was, but I had nothing to do with it.” Reporter: “How can you claim you gave nothing in return when you lifted sanctions on Russia to secure Hubbard’s release?” Trump: “Are you a stupid person? Who do you work for?” Reporter: “ABC News.” Trump: “You’re a stupid person. And by the way, your network is the worst of them all.” Reporter: “Let’s get back to the substance of the question…” Trump: (Walks away.)

The Washington Post reports that ten current and former Defense Department officials, across the political spectrum, have been quietly meeting with leaders in at least ten states to prepare for Trump refusing to accept the midterm results. That is where we are now: national security officials defending American elections from an American president.

Trump: I got Greenland. I got it… Denmark, They've only had it from 1592. That's not that old when because President Xi from China was here, I was showing him the White House. 1792, the White House, that's when it was built, and I was showing President Xi and I was so proud of it because I fixed it, you know, it, it was like a dump. They didn't take care of it

Trump engaged in a thoughtful, extended conversation with—nothingness. He suddenly stopped, waved, saluted, offered greetings, and chatted for a bit with the empty space. 😁🤭 The cameraman deliberately zoomed out to show that there was absolutely no one to be seen for hundreds of meters in any direction. Apparently, Trump received a visit from the very same "invisible person"—the kind of encounter he had previously mocked Joe Biden for supposedly having. t.me/MirovichMedia/15645

The donor list for Trump's ballroom is finally public, and it blows the lid off a huge can of worms. There’s a LOT here, so let’s break it down: 1) Surprise, surprise...a ton of the donors conveniently got things they wanted after donating, and several of them asked to remain anonymous. Makes you wonder why. 2) Roughly HALF of the money for the ballroom came from companies or executives whose firms have had federal contracts under Trump. 3) Julio Herrera Velutini, an international banker indicted on bribery charges, was pardoned after his daughter gave $3.5 million to Trump’s PAC and pledged another $2.5 million for the ballroom. Trump pardoned him after the first check for the ballroom hit. 4) Charles Ergen, a telecoms exec whose company was being investigated by the FCC, had a closed-door meeting with Trump and the Chair of the FCC. That meeting reportedly involved talks about his political donations. The Administration dropped the investigation, and Ergen donated a total of $25 million. 5) Rocket, a housing fintech company, needed federal approval of a major acquisition. The deal raised a ton of questions from lawmakers about potential anticompetitive business practices. The Trump Administration gave the company the green light, and three weeks later, a Rocket subsidiary donated $10 million to the ballroom. 6) Salesforce committed a total of $3 million in three installments. Between those payments, the Army awarded the company a $5.6 billion contract, the largest public government contract in the company's history. 7) ServiceNow committed $5 million just one month after the federal government announced a deal to make their AI software available across federal agencies. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Trump has created a system where the people who need something from his government know exactly how to get his attention. These companies and executives are foaming at the mouth to shower him with money, because he’s made it clear that he’ll help them in exchange. There is no honest word for that other than corruption. washingtonpost.com/investiga…
