I worked at CBC as a journalist for decades. We've had the conversation about the word "terrorism" a few times. It was never about Islam, colonizers or anything like that. Most of the time, it came down to the memory of Nelson Mandela and the ANC. Mandela and the African National Congress were designated terrorists until 2008. How should media have dealt with that? This is the example that was often cited and likely contributed to CBC policy of many years to leave it to attribution.
To all my fans. There’s a lot of social media chatter on an alleged memo from my employer the CBC about not refering to 9/11 as a terrorist attack.
I will still refer 9/11 as a terrorist attack. Our network has covered 9/11 extensively.

Beautifully written contribution. It is not compassionate for the City to permit addicts to languish on the streets. Involuntary and medically supervised treatment is justified for people who are no longer capable of caring for themselves.

Ms. McNally is against forced treatment for mental health, drug rehab and other measures to get homeless people back on their feet and let homeless people decide when they’re ready.
