Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez both scored upset primary wins in deep-blue New York City districts, running on platforms that include abolishing ICE, eliminating prisons and police, and labeling Israel's war in Gaza a "genocide." The DSA itself has advocated for scrapping the U.S. Constitution entirely.
Malliotakis, New York City's only Republican in the House, says she's called on Johnson to limit their committee assignments if Republicans hold the majority. "Anybody whose campaign is based on no jails, no cops, no borders, is a real detriment to the country," she told Fox News Digital.

An NYPD detective who survived an attack with 10 stab wounds, including in the neck, by two suspected illegal immigrants is thanking God for a second chance at life.
"The first thing that I want to do is thank God I have a second chance at life."
Detective Jose Mercedes was on vacation when he was violently attacked. He says he told his attackers he was a police officer, but they didn't care.
Now, standing before reporters, Mercedes is expressing gratitude to the first responders and medical teams who saved his life, along with the investigators who worked to bring the suspects to justice.
The two suspects reportedly entered the U.S. illegally during the Biden administration.
