It takes too long and costs too much to build a house these days.
I introduced the Build More Homes Act to help communities cut red tape and make homebuilding faster and less expensive.
The idea is simple: Study how pre-approved home designs can reduce permitting delays and construction costs, then share what works with communities across Indiana and beyond.
Homeownership is part of the American Dream. We need to make it easier to achieve. #IN06
Harvest is in full swing at Ramsey Farms in Shelby County.
Phil Ramsey let me take the wheel of a combine at his family’s sixth-generation farm, where they grow corn, soybeans, wheat, and sunflowers and produce seed for @BecksHybrids.
I appreciate Phil and his sons making time during one of the busiest stretches of the year. #IN06

Federal funding doesn’t begin with a check from Washington. It begins with local communities doing the groundwork.
That was our focus in Shelby County as we looked ahead to 2027 Community Project Funding.
If your town has a project on the drawing board —now’s the time to talk with our team. #IN06
At @HoopsHall in New Castle, I met with Hoosiers to discuss 2027 funding for roads, water and sewer upgrades, and first responder equipment.
I’ve advanced $56 million for 6th District projects this Congress.
Our communities set the priorities. My job is to help secure the dollars to get it done. #IN06
Caring for our neighbors takes skill, patience, and compassion.
Last week, I visited Envive Healthcare in Beech Grove, formerly St. Paul Hermitage, to hear from the team providing nursing care and rehabilitation for Hoosiers.
Thanks to Ben Wells for the tour and to the nursing staff for the work they do every day for our neighbors and their families. #IN06
Strong schools and a strong local economy go hand in hand.
In the Columbus area, the Community Education Coalition brings educators and employers together to connect education and training with the skills our businesses need.
I met with Dr. Jim Roberts and Ashley Dieter to discuss that work: helping Hoosiers prepare for careers and helping local employers find the talent they need to grow. #IN06
Got an idea for an app? Let’s see what our students can build.
The Congressional App Challenge is open to middle and high school students who live or attend school in the Sixth District. Enter on your own or with a team, using any coding language.
Register by October 26. Visit Shreve.House.gov/services/co… for more information.

Scott Allman of Zeller Insurance in Columbus stopped by our Bartholomew County office hours to discuss legislation affecting the insurance industry.
Hearing directly from local professionals helps me understand how decisions in Washington affect our businesses and the Hoosiers they serve. #IN06
That “local” Indiana number calling you may not be local at all.
SIM boxes route overseas calls through hundreds of SIM cards, making scammers look like neighbors.
Today I introduced the Stop SIM Box Scams Act to ban these devices and help federal agencies keep them out of our country.
Take away the tool. Limit the calls. #StopScams
Our neighbors in Connersville, Cambridge City and New Castle face a long recovery from last month’s floods. I’ve visited these communities, and my team and I are staying engaged as they rebuild.
My September newsletter covers those visits, the October 25 deadline to apply for FEMA assistance, and more from across our district.

I’m reflecting this weekend on my visit last week in Washington with Archbishop Charles Thompson of the @archindy.
We discussed Pope Leo’s encyclical on artificial intelligence. I share his concern that technological progress must protect human dignity.
AI holds great promise — and challenges. Our responsibility is to guide its development with care for our families and the next generation.
