Valve says a “significant number” of employees are working on Steam’s growing visibility problem as the platform becomes increasingly crowded with new releases.
The company also says it won’t gatekeep games made with AI.
“We don’t want to be gatekeepers telling developers which tools they should or shouldn’t use.”
Valve wants to improve Steam’s discovery systems so good games can still stand out in an increasingly crowded store.

According to a little anecdote from director Gore Verbinsky, director of the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films
Geoffrey Rush (better known as Captain Hector Barbossa) was aware of the fact that, in the Western world, viewers habitually follow a film by looking at the screen from left to right, just like books.
In the scenes he always tried to stand on the left side of each frame to keep the audience's attention on his performance.
His attempts increased in intensity during the scenes he shared with Keira Knightley and the monkey.
The reason? According to the director, the answer was: "I'm sharing the frame with a beautiful actress and a very nice monkey... who would ever look at me?"
Ben Lamm, of de-extinction startup Colossal Biosciences, has teamed up with Palmer Luckey’s team at Anduril to create a dog that’s optimized for military use. The new “warhounds” will be cloned and gene edited.

I can't predict the future, but what's stopping a disgruntled, competent AI user from firing up their LLM and making their own GHPC?
I mean, just look at what the Project Zomboid modding community has done with Project Viewpoint, or what the Minecraft community has done with the Shooting Stars mod. Sure, these are mods rather than full-fledged games, but with AI constantly progressing, I can't help but think that antagonizing AI users is a very bad long-term strategy.
One of the theories I've had since 2023 is that, by 2030, the biggest advantages human creators might have over AI will be the reputation they've already built and, more importantly, the goodwill of their audience. Because without that goodwill, what's stopping people from switching to AI-made games if those games offer a better experience?
Like, cool, you hate AI. But what exactly do you have to offer instead? And why would people support you when you're busy demonizing them for using a technology they enjoy?
The reality is that most people ultimately care about the product and whether it satisfies them, not necessarily whether it was made by a human or AI.
Take the Shooting Stars mod for Minecraft, for example. There was ALMOST nothing like it before AI. Now imagine a younger generation growing up with projects like that, only to see the anti-AI crowd constantly complaining while offering little in comparison.
Who do you think they're going to side with?
So yeah, good luck with the virtue signaling, but life isn't confined to whatever moral position happens to be fashionable for the next five years. Life is about adapting to whatever shit gets thrown at you over decades, not winning some temporary argument on the internet.
Gunner, HEAT, PC! Declares war against AI-slop modding
The game’s official subreddit has updated its rules to ban any content created wholly or partly with generative AI.
That includes:
• AI-generated text summaries
• Image edits and AI “art”
• Animated clips and video thumbnails
• Game mods
• Content made using the game’s proprietary work as AI input
• Links to sites that use or promote generative AI
The moderators say “there are no exceptions”

Many things are true.
Shooting matches and diving into actual hard skill training is something everyone should do.
Sometimes you need to realize you are larping too hard.
But also…
Losing sight of why you need to be prepared is dumb.
Assuming nothing will ever happen is dumb.
Thinking hard shooting skills will solve any challenge is dumb.
It’s like anything in this life. It requires BALANCE. Don’t be that insufferable prepper guy who screams from the rafters. Don’t be that annoying gay comp guy who thinks he can bill drill his way out of getting dysentery.
Be a comp shooter, who trains with his community, who takes care of those around him, who strives to be more capable every day.
Literally don’t pick a side. Do both.
