There are 100 billionaires who own houses in Aspen. They all pay the same tax rate as my client who sold her late husband's wedding band to pay off medical debt because she had nothing else left, as the teachers living counties away from where they work because they can't afford to live closer, as working families across this state struggling to pay the bills. It doesn't need to be this hard. We don't need to be living this way. We deserve a graduated income tax, and this is the year we can make it happen. Vote yes on 87.
In Colorado a minimum wage worker pays the same state income tax as someone making a billion dollars, 4.4%.
But on November 3, voters could approve an amendment that would reduce taxes for anyone making under $500,000 a year, and raise taxes on the rich.
The amendment would raise $2 billion for Coloradans' healthcare and schools annually.
