Now we’re at the point where “genocide” and Israel are a punchline on SNL.
The “joke” comes from the same Michael Che who in 2021 said that Israel had vaccinated half its population and “I’m going to guess it’s the Jewish half.” When Jewish organizations then publicly complained to SNL’s Jewish creator and producer, Lorne Michaels, he ignored them.
The word “genocide” is the most inflammatory charge in international law. I have written about how the clueless and cavalier use by politicians and public figures fuels the post-Oct 7 wave of anti-Jewish violence.
