Thoroughly enjoyed a couple of days in Manchester at @TrinityHighMcr working with the Geography Department and wider leadership team. A real pleasure to spend time with staff and students, having some really valuable conversations about geography, curriculum, assessment, and teaching and learning. A big thank you to everyone at Trinity for such a warm welcome and for being so generous with their time. #geography #geographyteacher #robgeogeducation

Every great story has someone who made it shine. For so many of us, that’s a teacher. Today is the final day to say thank you in a way the whole world can see. Nominate a teacher for the 2027 Global Teacher Prize. It takes less than a minute. Nominations close October 12, 9am BST. 🔗 shorturl.at/aTa92 @GEMS_ME @varkeyfdn #GlobalTeacherPrize #TeachersMatter

My new book, Building Belonging in Schools, is out next month. It’s available for pre-order now. I’m convinced that we can really shift the experience that kids have in schools, and make them places where they love to go. This book is my attempt to set out how.

A fabulous day at @LHS_HighSchool today — such a positive, warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the school. Huge thank you to @m_chiles for inviting me. I was there supporting the school with a review of geography, & a real highlight was talking to students through pupil voice. I was particularly struck by the confidence with which they talked about their geography learning and shared their perspectives. Thank you to all staff and students who made me feel so welcome and gave up their time to talk with me! I can’t not mention the schools newest recruit - Willow - who entertained me in more ways than one with her antics and is already basking in her unsurprising popularity!

If we don’t get behaviour right in schools then everything else we seek to do it essentially building on sand. I get under the skin of this in my new book Behaving and Belonging. Get your copy here amzn.eu/d/0aRmk98P Don’t build on sand!

Word of the day for us Geographers -Palimpsest - A word that gives us a more sophisticated way of viewing a landscape: one where past processes and human activity have left their mark, even as the place continues to change. Great for thinking about landscape, place and change over time. Think of the English countryside: medieval ridge and furrow, old field boundaries, sunken lanes and modern land uses, all occupying the same landscape. #geography #geographyteacher

If vocabulary is going to become more than a list of words to remember, are we deliberately building the knowledge around it, revisiting it in richer contexts and helping pupils make connections over time? robgeogchambers.substack.com… Some reflections on vocabulary, knowledge, curriculum coherence and inclusion inspired by the piece by @JohnyyDaniel in @CharteredColl new 'In Praxis' publication. #curriculum #inclusion #coherence
