Stop using generational differences as an excuse for poor leadership.
The generation before you thought your generation sucked too.

The issue of fire service recruitment and retention goes beyond just the numbers. While it's common to focus on the shortage of personnel, there's a deeper concern that often remains unaddressed – the widening experience gaps within fire departments.

Everyone that has used the 160gpm@50psi HEN always issue similar statements. Rapid lift and cooling, faster suppression with less effort from the Nozzle position. These are three slides that may shed some light to the reasons why. Placement is KEY @fireengineering @hoseman14

A lot of respect to the Bruins for honoring fallen firefighter Jason Arno during tonight’s game, who lost his life tragically yesterday during a 4-alarm fire. My thoughts go out to his family, and his brothers and sisters with the Buffalo Fire Dpt. Gone but never forgotten #BFD

Right sizing, Small Attack Package Hose is challenging, considering actual charged internal diameters. FDs in 150-175 gpm flow ranges should be at right around 1.8-inches in a hose designed for 50psi NP. It takes work to spec hose & ensure consistency. @FDICevent #educationiskey

Its comical is a ‘funny but sad way’ how poor of leaders most State and Federal politicians are.
They have no concept of what it takes to be a leader.

Sometimes things can get so advanced they make us all look stupid…
Interesting take. Not sure 3/4ths of these reasons align with the conventional mission of the fire service.
One emergent and the balance non-emergent seems to work well for departments.
Saying “division 2” instead of “floor 2” has got to be one of the absolute dumbest things I’ve heard of.
Seems like a great way to make yourself sound ‘elite’ to everyone who can’t see through the BS.
Anyone have a good reason for doing this?

An important & often overlooked building construction difference is if it is ‘framed construction’ (a metal or heavy timer skeleton frame with non load bearing walls filled in); or if it has load bearing walls.
Type 3 & usually 5 is the latter.
Type 1 2 & 4 can be either.
One of the biggest challenges facing society is that too many leaders are untrained in the art of critical thinking and problem solving.
The education system taught them WHAT to think, rather than HOW to think. -@APompliano
This can be applied to the fire service as well.
