𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐆𝐀𝐏 The issue of fire service recruitment and retention goes beyond just the numbers. While it's common to focus on the shortage of personnel, there's a deeper concern that often remains unaddressed – the widening experience gaps within fire departments.

Everyone that has used the 160gpm@50psi HEN always issue similar statements. Rapid lift and cooling, faster suppression with less effort from the Nozzle position. These are three slides that may shed some light to the reasons why. Placement is KEY @fireengineering @hoseman14

A lot of respect to the Bruins for honoring fallen firefighter Jason Arno during tonight’s game, who lost his life tragically yesterday during a 4-alarm fire. My thoughts go out to his family, and his brothers and sisters with the Buffalo Fire Dpt. Gone but never forgotten #BFD

Right sizing, Small Attack Package Hose is challenging, considering actual charged internal diameters. FDs in 150-175 gpm flow ranges should be at right around 1.8-inches in a hose designed for 50psi NP. It takes work to spec hose & ensure consistency. @FDICevent #educationiskey

Every building is occupied until we prove otherwise. Search culture is just as important as an extinguishment culture.

"Fog for protection" on the interior is one of the greatest fallacies of the fire service. Flow a buttload of water. Rapidly cooled gases contract faster than steam expands.
I know there are guys not too far from the conference who “prefer the safety of a fog stream”. Come to the conference to see Engine Geek @Kiel_Samsing deliver Big Drops of Water knowledge bombs. You don’t know what you don’t know, yet.

It’s often said as those who can’t do teach. I’d say that isn’t true about the fire service. Most who teach are incredible on the fireground. I’d change it to “THOSE WHO CAN’T DO, YELL AT RECRUITS AND PROBIES”... especially for no reason.

Front stairs may or may not reach top floor as evidenced by fire escape, rear stairs almost always will. The half story on 2.5s may be individual units or extension of 2nd fl, 3.5s the “lofts” are sometimes storage, finished living (legal or not), or often illegal full apartment

Best part about this conference is you don’t have to choose one lecture over the other. You get to attend the entire lecture series on Engine, Truck, RIT, and Tactics. You’ll walk away with knowledge on each topic. Sunday you pick the hands-on training that interests you most.

Aggressive Interior Attack? Now that we have your attention. Notice what happens when the nozzleman shuts down on this 30’ hallway approach to a fire in the BC corner. Learn to flow & move & USE THE TIC! 😁@flir
