I want you all to know this.
There are 650 MPs in Parliament. Yet the one MP chosen by @UKLabour to Chair the Bill Committee for the controversial, dangerous and dismally bad draft legislation, the Conversion Practices Bill, is Alex Barros-Curtis. Until July 2024, when Alex was given a very safe Labour seat in Cardiff, he was the Head of the Labour Party's Governance and Legal Unit in London. This was a department set up to investigate complaints against members of the Labour Party. Complaints of antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, and of course latterly, mostly women holding legally-protected 'Gender Critical' (sex realist) beliefs. Alex oversaw the investigation of hundreds of members who liked or tweeted gender critical or feminist views. I was one of them. He investigated me, as a sitting Labour MP, for 13 months.
13 months to 'investigate' one like of one tweet. I had a great lawyer, one of the names we're all now familiar with, and I had to crowdfund to pay for his (excellent) work.
They first tried in 2020. But the screenshots crudely attached to that passive aggressive, threatening-sounding email from LP admin staff were so risible that I replied that it was too ridiculous for me to waste my precious time on. They left it. Years of Starmer bumbling and stuttering through interviews about whether he had spoken to me, whether he supported me, etc followed. My feminist sins continued apace.
And then I 'liked' a tweet by my GC comedian friend @Glinner. He had mocked Eddie'Suzy' for comparing his choice to wear traditional women's clothing, fake plastic breasts and nails, to those being persecuted by the Nazis during WWII. I found his sarcasm, as a award-winning comedy writer in the face of such offensive narcissism amusing and so 'liked' it. I found it absurd and obscene that Izzard, an extremely privileged and wealthy man, who openly changed his 'gender' at will, should write himself into history falseley as someone who would have been oppressed due to a circumstance beyond his control. We all know the groups who were tortured, starved and killed...
There is obviously more to my story, I will tell it all, it's just one chapter of the years of spiteful abusive and bullying practices meted out to me by the Labour Party managers. Not those who'd achieved office on merit, or even unexpectedly, but those in the club, often having failed to be elected themselves.
So Barros-Curtis who we were repeatedly told led 'the many *independent* inquiries into women members and MPs like me, now often stands as a trans-rights activist on the Labour backbenches. He has also been gifted the role of Chair of this Committee and is a huge supporter of this Bill. And I am not a part of the Bill Committee, although plenty of TRA MPs are. Does that sound like the democratic scrutiny of legislation to you?
£50,000. One entrepreneur. One business idea.
From 1 January 2027, I’m considering investing £50,000 in someone with a genuinely viable business idea.
Here’s the challenge:
You’ve got access to £50k in start-up capital. What business would you launch, how would you spend the money, who are your customers, and how would you make it profitable?
This is an equity investment, not a grant or a loan. In return for the capital, I’d expect a percentage ownership of the business, negotiated according to the strength of the proposal.
No buzzwords, fantasy valuations or get-rich-quick schemes. I want ambition, commercial realism and a sensible route to profitability.
This is a social experiment for now, but if the right person comes forward with the right idea, I’m genuinely open to investing.
£50,000 on the table. What’s your business idea, and what percentage would you offer an investor?
Go. 👇

I’m increasingly coming to the view that the list system is a significant problem. It gives us zealots who play to a very narrow activist gallery (Chapman, Manivannan). And denies us independently minded backbenchers (Wightman, Regan).

Apart from the SNP, few in Scotland believe this self-indulgent, anti-fact, unscientific nonsense. Not one person in that auditorium felt it necessary to challenge such balderdash. And this, in the land of The Enlightenment. 🤦♂️
The SNP under its current leadership team is now the biggest obstacle to independence & a better nation. 12 years of post referendum rule & the SNP has:
- no strategy for independence,
- made no preparations for statehood, &
- has no credible leaders for our nation.
The SNP has repelled most Scots with their control-freakery centralisation, beige talentless politicians, & cult-like adherence to this kind of nonsense. It has repelled our schemes, our businesses, Yes voters, as well as the soft-No's who were thinking about independence.
Any meaningful debate on independence has now been banished from the SNP's main conference & all substance relegated to fringe events.
Orwell sums up perfectly, the state of a once great party:
"Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to BELIEVE that black is white, and more, to KNOW that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary."
Scotland is so much more, and so much better, than what the SNP hierarchy is offering.
Time to think anew, and act anew. 🏴

@slorance was not just a civil servant he was a father of 3 boys & 2 girls. @theSNP took him away, putting headlines ahead of heath.
While incompetence rules & reputation rises above all else, Scotland declines further & further.

Are there any voices of reason left at all in the @theSNP ? Any ?
No one spoke against this extreme motion at @theSNP conference which was passed by acclaim.
It would criminalise parents, therapists, medical staff, and teachers. It assuredly would run counter to human rights.

If physician associates are able to train in "medicine" and are magically able to see patients independently in two years - why does it take doctors 5 to 6 years medical degree and 10 years postgraduate training before achieving independence?
We have to decide whether we want a safe healthcare service delivered by fully trained doctors or go back to a free for all where anyone can practice medicine with a cursory level of knowledge/ training and do away with medical degrees / medical training
It's like living in a parallel universe where simultaneously you need over 15 years of training to be considered safe as a doctor but anyone else can do a simple course and get stuck in.
Allowing physician assistants to see undifferentiated patients would be irresponsible and poorly evidenced, says @TheBMA's Tom Dolphin
He warns that vague guidelines on supervision fail to address the safety concerns that have been repeatedly raised

Every medical/ICU consultant enabling this practice should be publicly named and shamed! Clearly ‘noctors’ rarely care about patient safety and outcomes, and corporate managers care only about money, but how many more people have to die before we see significant change? Terrible!
