Multicentre study of 966 patients hospitalised with acute decompensation of cirrhosis highlights distinct clinical phenotypes.
🔹 First presentation: higher bilirubin
🔹 Prior decompensation: more encephalopathy, shock and renal dysfunction

#liverTwitter Proud to see the CORE database we built already generating meaningful insights. Our latest study uses CORE (23 centres now) to model the natural hx of decompensation, an exciting first step toward answering important clinical questions.

AI-generated slides have taken over every conference.😴
Boxes inside boxes, microscopic text, arrows connecting everything to everything else
The message is hidden deeper than a pelvic node!
Quite a turn-off.
We need a pre-conference workshop just to read the slides.

#LiverTwitter Happy to share our latest paper from the #CORE consortium, an Asia Pacific led initiative to understand compensated liver cirrhosis. Our latest paper explore how statin reduces the risk of hepatic decompensation and LRE @hepinternation1.

How do Type A (first timers) and B (prior decomp) ACLF behave?
First-timers, i.e., type A: alcohol and viral-> liver failure recovery possible (have treatment).
Prior decomp (type B, usually MASLD and ALD) - high mortality if they satisfy liver failure criteria.
Type B without liver failure (mostly MASLD ~25% of total population) - mortality is 30%+ and driven by infection, HE, AKI. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Glad to see so many Indian colleagues recognised on #Stanford University’s #World’s Top 2% Scientists list.
Although it's just a number #India, we need to increase the numbers on this list by at least 50% every year

15% with LSM above 15 decompensate over 4 years.
LSM of 28 high chance of decomp.
Diabetes- high chance of death after 1st decomp.
ALD- overall high decomp rate (etiology control difficult- chance of relapse!)
HBV- low (etiology treatable with drugs)
Don’t ignore LSM. #livertwitter #liverx
