The UK's Migration Advisory Committee found no evidence that EEA migration reduced employment opportunities for UK-born workers on average.
That's the conclusion of a major government-commissioned assessment.
Why is the opposite claim repeated as established fact?

Reply guys / bots / red wallers, the world isn't 2016 any more, the UK isn't getting special deals from the EU, US, or China, and that's 75% of UK trade.
Geography and reality mean we have to deal with the EU. Andy Burnham gets that.

They are fucked. Completely fucked. For Reform momentum is everything. Once they lose that, it’s game over. They have no plan for when it happens either.
This is the beginning of the end for them.

Brexit was the greatest act of economic self-harm in our country’s history.
I’ve calling on the government for closer ties with Europe to help businesses grow, lower costs and improve living standards.
Rejoining the EU must remain our destination.

A Reminder that Reform is sponsored by the fossil fuel industry

The ONLY winner in the Jackdaw licence confirmation are fossil fuel billionaires and the sycophants who lobby for them.
Like, in every conceivable measure. Fuel wont cost less. It makes 27 jobs total. It's a bad deal for literally 99.99999999% of the population.

👏 Peter Kellner hit the nail on the Brexit head:
“Brexiters will continue to say we were right to leave the EU. But only if they include the dead, exclude the young and ignore buyers’ remorse can they still claim to have democracy on their side.”
🥳 The pro-EU majority continues to grow and deepen.
7m new voters have reached voting age since 2016 and oppose Brexit by about 5:1.
Allowing for turnout, Peter Kellner estimates 3.5m new pro-EU voters versus 700,000 new pro-Brexit voters.
Even if nobody from 2016 had changed their mind, that demographic shift alone would now produce roughly a 55–45 majority for EU membership.
Then add switching: around 5m voters have changed their minds, and roughly three-quarters of them moved from Leave to Rejoin.
Put together, Kellner arrives at:
🇪🇺 Rejoin 63%
🇬🇧 Stay out 37%
A majority of almost 9 million.

As Brexit returns to the spotlight, I wanted to share my thoughts on the UK's future relationship with Europe.
Brexit has been a disaster for businesses of all sizes, including for many in Wimbledon. We must begin the difficult work of rebuilding with our nearest trading partner.

So this is a big deal, and perhaps even *the day Brexit delusions die*. For the EU threatens to restrict automotive sector access unless the UK follows its trade and investment rules. And China threatens to retaliate if the UK does what the EU wants. politico.eu/article/china-th…

IPPR conclude:
"Only membership of the EU answers what voters truly demand: control over their lives, relief from instability, and a transformative new approach to the world. Incremental, sector-specific trade deals will not give them that."

So much for “Brexit will make food cheaper”.
Food prices are now dramatically higher than five years ago.
LSE researchers estimated Brexit food barriers cost households about £250 each by 2023.
And now British food production is under pressure while imports and the food trade deficit rise.
Cheaper food was one of the great Brexit promises. The reality has been the opposite.
🥩🥚 STEAK AND EGGS — NOW A LUXURY MEAL IN BRITAIN?!
Food prices have surged 38.2% over the past five years.
But look at some of the increases:
🔴 Beef and veal: +60.4%
🔴 Eggs: +56.1%
🔴 Lamb and goat: +55.0%
🔴 Pork: +51.8%
🔴 Olive oil: +109.7%
A weekly food shop costing £60 in 2021 would now cost around £83.
That's almost £1,200 EXTRA a year for the same groceries!
I joined @MartinDaubney to discuss the impact of rising food prices on hardworking Brits.
💬 What's become too expensive for your weekly shop?
