"Ukrainian troops have been caught off guard by restrictions on Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet systems that disrupted frontline operations, while Kyiv received no advance warning from its partners of a Russian missile attack on its energy facilities for the second day running, according to Ukrainian officials. Starlink terminals used by Ukrainian drone units began experiencing signal failures at speeds above 160kph, disrupting several missions early on Wednesday morning, according to military personnel and senior Ukrainian officials. 'Logistics at the frontline and middle strikes are badly limited,' one senior Ukrainian official familiar with the situation on the front told the FT. Ukraine’s middle strikes target Russian military supply lines and logistics. The limitations came with 'no warning, just in the middle of the night', the official said" @ChristopherJM ft.com/content/37085602-726a…

Major new development with Trump/Musk apparently restricting use of Starlink above Ukraine.

Russia’s superhuman contribution to save Europe from the Nazi menace dwarfs what it did for India after the Second World War era. Europeans forgot their own history, while Indians remember it.

Going on 5 years of Europeans forced to pay premium prices for American LNG thanks to the Ukraine war, and they still act surprised by what this war is all about for Washington.
Video shows Kimberly Guilfoyle, US ambassador to Greece and former fiancee of Trump Jr. meeting privately with the leaders of Romania's Social Democratic Party on March 31st, in a Bucharest hotel. Just 6 Days later, the Social Democrats allied with the pro-Russian extremists from AUR and filled the motion that collapsed the Romanian government led by PM Bolojan, which strongly opposed purchasing US gas at above market prices. In a WSJ article yesterday, sources present at a meeting between a Greek minister and Guilfoyle stated she bragged about having collapsed the RO government for its refusal to buy US gas, warning the US can do the same in Greece.

“Died a coward. Could have died a hero.” That is how the @mobbs_mentality daughter of Keith Kellogg, Donald Trump’s former special envoy for Ukraine, comments under my post about the death of Volodymyr, 32, who drowned in a river while fleeing draft officers. A representative of the American establishment — someone who sacrifices nothing in this war, whose family members are not being killed, maimed, disappeared, or tortured in captivity — feels entitled to lecture Ukrainian men on the proper way to die. And yes, die is precisely the word. Because apparently, living is no longer an acceptable option for them. They must die. Preferably heroically. Preferably on the battlefield. Then the Epstein class can walk alongside Zelensky, lay flowers on their graves, and deliver stirring speeches about avenging them on Russia — while feeding still more Ukrainian men into the same machinery of death. Volodymyr was a veteran. He had already seen the horrors of war. This time, he did not want to be a hero. He wanted to watch his son grow up. He did not want to die. But people like Meaghan left Ukrainian men like him no acceptable way out. And so he died anyway. And now people like Meaghan sneer at his death because, apparently, the only Ukrainian man worthy of respect is a dead Ukrainian man-soldier — provided he dies the “right” way. Heroically. On the battlefield. A Ukrainian man who simply wants to live, to raise his child, to come home alive? Apparently, that is asking too much.

Iran scores diplomatic victory over US by by being elected onto steering committee of UN nuclear watchdog IAEA. The US envoy Preston Wells Griffith 111 (no less) had warned “Electing Iran to the IAEA committee, just days after its non-compliance was referred to the United Nations Security Council, would be beyond shameful and an embarrassment to the credibility of this body”. Iran emerged victorious in a secret ballot, with 44 countries backing the nomination against 35 that sided with the US’s position. Forty-two nations abstained. Trump’s ability to alienate friends and potential allies no matter the issue continues unabated.

In response to lawmakers giving Trump the power to impose 100% tariffs on customers of Russian oil & gas, India politely says it will do what the fuck it wants "to ensure energy security for its 1.4B people." Senator Blumenthal lectured New Delhi today on "cleaning up its act."

Russia is quietly rewriting its drone-war playbook, and the Geran-4/5 shift is the clearest evidence yet. For over a year, the workhorse was the Geran-2, a slow, propeller-driven Shahed derivative. That era is ending. Russia has already halted production of the jet-powered Geran-3 and pivoted its lines entirely toward two new models: the Geran-4 and Geran-5. Output is now around 3,000 of these jet drones a month, alongside roughly 2,800 propeller Geran-2s — a scale that dwarfs anything seen earlier in the war. The two models solve different problems. The Geran-4 keeps the familiar delta-wing Shahed silhouette but reinforces the airframe and swaps in a Chinese Telefly turbojet. That pushes cruise speed to 350–500 km/h, with bursts to 500+, range out to 850–960 km, and a 50–90 kg warhead. The Geran-5 is a different animal entirely: it drops the delta shape for a cylindrical, missile-like fuselage, weighs 850 kg at takeoff, hits 450–600 km/h, carries a 90 kg warhead, and reaches nearly 1,000 km — functionally a cruise missile sold at drone prices. What's really changing isn't just hardware but the doctrine. Three shifts stand out: - Instead of hugging the ground, Geran-4/5 are now flying at 5–7 km during cruise phases, well above the engagement envelope of many mobile air-defense teams and cheap interceptor drones Ukraine has been fielding. Combined with jet speeds three times faster than piston Shaheds, this is straining Ukraine's interceptor programs, which were only catching up to the slower Geran-2 threat. - Both new variants add thermal imaging, AI-based target correction, Russian anti-jamming antennas, and Chinese mesh-radio networking — a real leap from the rudimentary GPS/inertial guidance of earlier Gerans. That reduces dependence on satellite navigation exactly where Ukrainian EW is strongest. - Russia has roughly halved per-unit cost to $50,000–70,000 by 3D-printing turbine parts and streamlining Alabuga's production lines — meaning the faster, harder-to-kill drone is now also the cheaper one to mass-produce. There's also a proliferation angle worth flagging: the Financial Times reports Iran has asked Moscow to supply Geran-5s for its own conflict with Israel and the US, essentially requesting the upgraded version of the platform it originally gave Russia. And Ukraine's HUR says some Geran-5s can be armed with R-73 air-to-air missiles and even air-launched from Su-25s, hinting at an anti-aircraft/anti-drone role beyond strike missions. The strategic reach is expanding too. A Telegraph investigation found at least 59 new Russian drone launch rails near NATO's borders, roughly 20 long enough for Geran-4/5, putting Warsaw within range. That geography helps explain the recent incursions into Romanian and Moldovan airspace — including the drone that nearly intercepted Zelensky's aircraft — where open-source analysts identified the intruder as a Geran-4. Russia isn't just iterating on the Shahed anymore, but converting a cheap, disposable saturation weapon into a faster, smarter, longer-range strike system that blurs the line with cruise missiles, while making it harder and more expensive for Ukraine (and potentially NATO's eastern flank) to keep up.

Germany’s FAZ, the house journal of the ruling CDU, calls the Leipzig drone attack, which killed nobody and damaged nothing, “Germany’s 9/11.” One hesitates to imagine what terminology remains available should anything genuinely catastrophic happen.
