It’s wild how farmers worth £Ms can threaten to withhold food, so as not to a pay tax - we all pay - and people applaud them. But when nurses strike for a fair wage and safer NHS, they’re labelled as greedy. How’s that make any freaking sense?

Another week, & another tree beloved by its local community at risk of felling at the behest of an insurance company. This time, it’s the King George Oak, in Wivenhoe. This magnificent tree is likely at least 150 years old & the focal point of the community. The local council is due to chop the tree down this week, as the insurance company @avivaplc has implicated it in the subsidence of a neighbouring property. However, the council & Aviva refused to release the expert report into the matter, & alternative ways of dealing with the subsidence whilst retaining the tree have not apparently been considered. There is a strong local campaign @Oldoakwivenhoe, with many tree protectors protesting at the tree & doing whatever they can to stop it being felled. Do sign their petition below and follow the campaign to save their tree. change.org/p/save-wivenhoe-s…

You're looking tired worn out, have you been assessed? Your eyesight must be deteriorating if you haven't seen the hassle other councils have had after cutting down MATURE #TREES @FoEHull @ArroJoanne @chrisywo @HullImages @wellyeco @StagNews2022

This is a horrendous situation and disturbing thread to read. My thoughts with Jane, Cat and her family. Sadly other than potential legal action it's very tough to know what can be done. It is possible to try to raise emergency situation with Ombudsman but that's unlikely to resolve much at the speed needed. Hopefully the publicity a situation like this can and should get will put pressure on the insurer to review its decision.
1. I don’t often tweet about my personal life, but on 1st November, my mum Jane was hit by a large vehicle as a pedestrian in St. Louis, USA. She suffered a severe brain injury & remains in a coma in hospital. Here's Jane & me in happier times.

I have yet to see a major development involving significant tree loss that results in a net gain of tree canopy. Perhaps several decades in the future but that would be the exception.

Experiencing increasing disappointment reading about Starmer's freebies and Sue Gray pay. Shows v poor political judgment, huge insensitively, being out of touch when they're touting Austerity 2.0 Same for Farage, who's stacking up a nice array of prezzies since becoming an MP. But in his case, unsurprising when you remember his MEP days! members.parliament.uk/member…

Just to put this out there with clarity: Robbie Gibb, who is responsible for turning the disgraced JC into a right-wing Pro-Netanyahu propaganda rag, is one of five people - including the Director General - on the @BBCNews editorial guidelines and standards committee. It’s on the BBC website. Minutes of the last meeting show they discussed complaints about Israel/Gaza. Quite apart from the fact he is not remotely impartial on the Middle East, how can the owner of a paper with such poor journalistic standards have a role over the BBC’s? Robbie Gibb gets to censor the BBC's Middle East coverage. He needs to resign today. bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/whowea…
Surprise, surprise! @BBCNews fails to note that man who led the far-rightwards pro-Netanyahu turn of the JC is Robbie Gibb BBC director who also stands accused of censoring BBC reports on Palestine Columnists quit Jewish Chronicle in Gaza articles row bbc.com/news/articles/ckgnn1…
