How on earth can Britain's National Security Adviser be appointed before completing security vetting?
Jonathan Powell is advising the Prime Minister on some of the most sensitive national security matters imaginable.
Yet his appointment reportedly came before the necessary vetting.
First the Peter Mandelson scandal. Now serious questions over Jonathan Powell.
How many more failures in Labour's vetting process are going to emerge?
National security should never be an afterthought.

In April, I revealed this as an unforgivably reckless disregard for our national security.
Roles are *always* subject to securing DV / vetting FIRST.
Especially the most senior security role in the Cabinet Office.
Jonathan Powell must go and serious questions must be answered by Labour.

This is clearly insane.
A charity set up to maintain London’s bridges is sitting on £1.5 BILLION, funding political campaigns and giving £1.1m to a group with links to a charity now under investigation over alleged Hamas connections.

Sadiq Khan has made it completely impossible to build anything in London. That alone would be bad enough.
But he's also put a Hamas supporter in charge of a development project worth £2.5 billion.

Jonathan Powell’s position as National Security Adviser is untenable.
His repeated meetings with the CCP were disclosed not by the British Government, but by Chinese Communist Party read outs, and serious questions remain over his role in the collapsed China spy case.
He is responsible for the Government’s disastrous Chagos negotiations and still advocates giving away billions in taxpayer money to surrender a British territory.
He has refused to appear before many Parliamentary committees.
Now, concerning material shared publicly by his wife raises further questions about his judgement and sharing access to sensitive information.
If he were a Minister, he would have to appear in front of Parliament to answer for these glaring concerns.
Instead, the man running our foreign policy and national security refuses any scrutiny.

This experiment on children is horrific enough. Now we are giving shopping vouchers to 11 year olds to try life changing drugs. There are just no words that can adequately capture how utterly appalling a path Labour has chosen.

The man entrusted with Britain's national security is married to a journalist who publicly questioned the testimony of Israeli rape victims, sneered at solidarity with Israel the day after October 7, and told James O'Brien he could "do better" than calling Hamas a "murderous death cult".
You'd have expected Sarah Helm to keep her head down while questions swirl about her husband, Jonathan Powell. You'd have expected wrong. On Monday, she waded in to defend the Palestine poppy, days after the Telegraph revealed that its creator, an NHS doctor, had circulated an image comparing Israel to a cancer.
Helm is entitled to her opinions, however grotesque. But when your husband is privy to the nation's deepest secrets, they cease to be a family matter.
Powell owes the public answers. The Cabinet Office owes us an explanation of what safeguards exist. And he should step down.

We have discovered further incendiary rhetoric from Sarah Helm going back years, including on ‘intifada’, Hamas, terrorists, Jeremy Corbyn’s antisemitism scandal, Jewish history in the Middle East, and more.
This is shocking from the wife of the National Security Advisor. At a time of the worst antisemitism in living memory, how can British Jews be reassured when these sentiments are so close to the person charged with protecting us all?

The police have now reportedly announced that Sarah Helm’s post did not reach the criminal threshold and therefore that no further action will be taken.
So it’s illegal to express support for a proscribed terrorist organisation if you’re an ordinary person, but if you allegedly do it when you’re the wife of the National Security Advisor, that’s okay?
Aren’t we supposed to be a country where everyone is equal under the law?
With decisions like this, it’s no wonder that 89% of British Jews think the authorities are not doing enough to tackle political extremism.
Police inaction in this high-profile case beggars belief. It’s another nail in the coffin of British justice.

Sky News have taken the utterly bizarre stance of blaming right wing social media accounts for sharing footage of far left extremism sweeping across France and beyond.
Let that sink in.
Left wing protesters, some waving Palestinian flags, are smashing up cities, looting businesses and clashing with police.
Yet somehow, the people sharing footage of this destruction are being portrayed as the problem.
Here's an idea, Sky News.
Stop blaming the people exposing the chaos and start blaming the extremists actually causing it.
The people filming and sharing the destruction aren't the ones destroying Europe.

This week, Labour and the Lib Dems turned their backs on women and girls.
The women of Piddington came to Parliament to make their voices heard. Labour and the Lib Dems chose to ignore the genuine concerns of women and put the rights of illegal migrant men first.
Meanwhile, NHS England has finally recognised it must apply the the law and biological reality.
Credit where it’s due: this is a victory for the tireless campaigning of @DarlingtonUnion and others. Well done to all involved.
No matter how much Labour try to silence women, I will always speak up for them.

Another extraordinary post I've uncovered from Sarah Helm, dating back to August 2021.
In it, she claims Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian elections fairly, before being “blackballed” as a terrorist organisation by Israel.
Let's be absolutely clear.
Hamas was designated a terrorist organisation by America in 1997. Britain banned its military wing in 2001.
Both years before those elections.
Yet Helm portrays Hamas as though it was unfairly branded a terrorist organisation simply for winning an election.
This is the wife of Britain's National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell.
For years, her deeply concerning views on terrorism have been sitting in plain sight.
How has someone this close to the heart of Britain's national security establishment escaped serious scrutiny for so long?
The public deserves answers.

You probably haven’t heard of Sarah Helm. She is a journalist, author… and wife of Jonathan Powell, Britain's National Security Adviser, the man at the very centre of the state's fight against terrorism.
Yesterday, responding to reports that Sally Rooney's books may no longer be sold in Britain over her alleged support for Palestine Action, she posted this on X: "God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action."
Palestine Action is a proscribed terrorist organisation. Under the Terrorism Act, expressing support for a proscribed group is a criminal offence. Hundreds of people have been arrested for doing exactly that.
Perhaps Ms Helm will say she was being loose with her words. But the household of the man responsible for Britain's national security is not where you'd expect to find what looks very much like a declaration of support for a banned terror group.
Does Downing Street have anything to say? Does it hell.

Now ask yourself:
Where is the big national debate about left-wing extremism?
Where are the BBC documentaries and podcasts about left-wing extremism?
Where are the calls to warn children in schools and universities about left-wing extremism?
Where are the government 'counter-terror units' stating that if you read, say, Karl Marx or Antonio Gramsci then you are "on a pathway to terror"?
Where are the think-tanks producing major research reports on left-wing extremism and its followers?
Where are the multi-million pound research grants going to academics who investigate left-wing terror?
If it was far-right we all know what would happen. Wall to wall blanket coverage, analysis, and debate.
Does anybody else notice the silence?
