Was (somewhat shamefully) one of the first people in line at Maryland Dairy today. A staffer confirmed to me that Michael Locksley’s ice cream flavor, Pop, #LOCKed In, Drop It, is already gone. Sad day for those (me) who loved the flavor.

For those curious, per my fellow-DBK reporter Stella Garner, the Michael Locksley ice cream flavor is gone. Will be there in person tomorrow to confirm if it is removed or was just out of stock.

Maryland booster @DCBarno tells me on Locksley firing: "Virtually every MD fan knew it needed to be made. Mike is a good guy, strong recruiter, and a great ambassador for the university. But it never materialized into consistent success, and his career record speaks for itself."

To say the very least on this, the congressman is incorrect on the law. Two-party consent is relevant only to private oral conversations, and he has zero expectation of privacy here. 1st Amendment gives you the right to record public officials in public places as long as you're not interfering with their official duties.

Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

Great scoop from @thedbk team: Days after UMD's club tennis team was indefinitely suspended for sharing a graphic featuring Ku Klux Klan hoods, all club sports must now receive written approval from professional staff for any external communication: dbknews.com/2026/10/14/umd-r…

Merrill College students know their rights as journalists. "Cat Murphy is a master's student at the University of Maryland, credentialed as a reporter for our Capital News Service and doing the job we teach our students to do. Cat recorded openly in a public space alongside other news outlets, and that is her legal right," Dean Rafael Lorente (@DeanLorente) said. "I'm proud of how she handled herself in a difficult situation."
