Brand’s faith seemed genuine to me at the time when I was a guest at his private baptism.
I have attended a few now. Even visiting in prisons with people who have committed terrible crimes. It's part of our calling as men and women of faith, to love and serve anyone. It is the sick that need healing. Judgement is for the courts and God… I wouldn’t want to ever discourage someone’s coming to faith.
It is right that justice has now been served.
I can’t imagine how hard this time has been for the victims, the heroes of the day.

I remember back in 2018, when @jimmellado , ceo of @compassion , and his wife Leanne, were themselves whistleblowers @WillowCreekCC. Back then I was more naive than I am now, and put them in a category with the good guys.
.@compassion International just sued the whistleblower who exposed their failure to act on more than 25,000 suspected grooming cases in sponsor letters.
Not to fix the problem. Not to protect the children. But to claim “reputational harm” and silence the man who tried for months to get them to do something.
This is what prioritizing the brand over the kids looks like. Disgusting.

According to investigatory report, ABWE “lied about & hid the existence of 100s of documents pertaining to Ketcham at the direction of ABWE attorney Robert Showers.” Yet Southern Baptists still platformed Showers at a seminar to educate churches on abuse.

1/ hi @ChristaBrown777. Recently I came across the story of Donn Ketcham, a baptist missionary medical doctor who spent 50 years sexually assaulting his minor patients, both in Bangladesh and the USA.
2/ Many people in @ABWE_Intl knew about his predation, and they never stopped him.
But the thing that really stuck me was that his dad, Robert Thomas Ketcham, a pastor for decades with @RegularBaptist , was ALSO a sexual predator pastor.

I love the work @compassion does among children. But what this whistleblower reveals is extremely concerning.
An AI tool he developed found more than 25,000 cases of suspected grooming in letters between sponsors and the children in Compassion's program. The whistleblower says Compassion has failed to adequately address the danger and is instead threatening him with legal action.
I hate to say it, but this is typical circling-the-wagons behavior. I'm really disappointed. Full disclosure, I've sponsored Compassion children for decades.
