A GOP with Fuentes as its future would be a GOP that I would no longer be part of. No decent person would. In such a case, the GOP would become a splinter party, and actual conservatives would flock together under a new name. It would change almost nothing.
Sure, Tim. Do better.

Indians are 1% of Texas population. Texas flipped blue because this sentiment is repulsive to non-Indians too
Indians flipped Texas blue. You may not care about a racewar, but the racewar cares about you.

Indian Americans make up ~2% of Texas (~668k). Latinos (~40% of pop.) shifted strongly to Democrats after 2024 Trump gains, flipping border counties and driving 7-12 pt statewide wins, per Axios and exit data. axios.com/2026/11/04/lat… timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/the-p…

Indians in Texas being 1% of the population did not flip Texas blue. Being complete dipshits about Indians being 1% in Texas probably had a solid effect on it, though.
Anyone who says “demographics is destiny” needs to be dunked in cold water because the same demographics helped them win in 2024 and since then they have deported millions. Good luck with what’s coming.

Or, unironically, because it was never the issues weighing us down, just based on the ads the Dems ran. It was self-immolation. It's like a competition of two people offering a presentation before a conference and then voting on who was better. You could have the best presentation imaginable, but say in middle of it, your guy pulls his pants down and defecates on the floor. You can't get your foot in the door to even make the case when that happens. Then a few retards will comment, "But how could you go for the other side, their presentation makes no sense?" Yeah, but people can't unsee certain things.

Two bedrock conservative principles: personal responsibility/accountability and actually conserving (preserving) norms. Trump almost single-handedly destroyed both. And now the country pays the price.
For the last two years, the Trump Administration has been governed by a simple mantra: “We can just do things.” On Tuesday, voters replied, “So can we,” and wiped out the GOP. This was not a blue wave. This was not a blue tsunami. This was the breakup of a winning coalition. Those voters, in breaking up the coalition, treated downballot races as proxies for their contempt of Washington, D.C. The race for dog catcher became nationalized because of Republican political malpractice. In 2024, Donald Trump assembled a multiracial and multiethnic coalition of voters who bristled at the progressivism of the Democrats and the wreckage of the economy. By 2026, Trump and his White House acolytes set that coalition on fire to cater to a group of hyperonline grievance mongers who have confused Twitter with real life. Last night, the American constitutional system worked as designed and worked so well and so thoroughly that the party that lied to itself in 2020 that it had lost only because the election was stolen is now lying to itself that it lost only because of gas prices and war. Last night’s drubbing was too complete to be theft. It was gas prices.
And it was the war. But it was also calling affordability a “hoax.”
And it was also the corruption.
The incompetence.
The tariffs.
The playing nice with Russia while treating our allies worse than our enemies.
The impression of cruelty.
The overly aggressive deportations.
The accidental arrests of American citizens who were Hispanic.
The arrogance.
The ballroom.
The reflecting poll.
The golf courses.
The arch.
The Qatari 747.
The aggressive redistricting push.
The threats against enemies. It turns out a weekend Fox and Friends host might not be a reassuring beacon of competence to Americans. Gas prices and the war cannot explain a wipe out from top to bottom in Texas or Georgia or losing South Carolina or Ohio or a total coast to coast wipe out. Only the simpletons can believe that. Adam Hamilton won Finney County in Kansas, which was a Trump +35 county in 2024 and he did so with Hispanic voters. He did not do that just because of war and gas prices. And shall we talk about Mississippi? A few weeks ago, Bo French in Texas attacked University of Texas students who were American citizens of Indian descent. A portion of the President’s base cheered him on. Even some within the Administration, on public Twitter accounts tied to the Administration, echoed him. Those voters’ parents repudiated the racism in the GOP and wiped out Republicans in Texas, not because they support the Democrats, but because the party they had supported turned on them. It was political malpractice by the GOP.

Tolkien lost his father at at 4 or so years old and was completely orphaned by 12, when he lost his mother. He was born into the second part of the Industrial Revolution, and during his lifetime watched much of the world change in ways he hated, destroying and permanently altering the beautiful things he loved. He lived through 2 world wars, fighting at the Somme and losing many of his friends, and having his sons fight in the second. This was not a good time for man in many regards. The world was changing rapidly, many men who fought in WW1 became very lost and cynical about the world, they were left damaged by trauma that no one knew how to deal with and often didn’t care enough to help them with. Young men were shamed by women giving out white feathers if they were not seen in uniform during The Great War, marking them as cowards or shirking their duty. There was not much to be optimistic about during this time period for young men. The ones who didn’t die in the First World War would have to watch their sons die or risk death in the Second. Tolkien wrote an optimistic book not because he lived through an optimistic time, but because he had faith in something beyond the dire circumstances of the time. He saw great evils, not just from the enemies, but from men on all sides during this time. And the Lord of the Rings, as hopeful as it may feel, is set in a bleak time in a waning world, where once great civilisations have been reduced to crumbling cities and ruins covered in foliage. But instead of going the route of many of the authors of the time, he did not fill his world with cynicism, but filled it with something to aspire to, something to encourage you towards doing what is right in the bleakest of times. People who say “yeah but Aragorn had this and I don’t” are missing the point. You aren’t supposed to compare yourself to these characters as stand-ins for your exact situation in life, you are supposed to be inspired by the ways they handle adversity they face and the ways they decide to do what is right. Your life isn’t going to be as epic and your circumstances aren’t going to seem as high and noble, but that’s not the point of fiction. Fiction takes concepts and turns them into something tango. LotR encourages us to do what we can to press forward with the circumstances given to us, that is the point. Not that you are in line to be king and have a beautiful love interest. Not that you get a big inheritance from your uncle, but that whether you are an insignificant gardener or the heir to the throne, you are still responsible for playing your part to the best of your ability and that it is worth it even if it seems futile in the moment.

This kind of thing is why I always say that there are some good ideas in the Prequels that are executed badly. There's really no good reason why Obi-wan left Anakin to burn on Mustafar except that we needed Vader for the pre-existing next trilogy. There's no reason at all that Anakin should stay in service to the Emperor after he didn't get what was promised to him, except, again, for that pesky next trilogy. Padme dying of a broken heart is laughably bad, but she was a loose end that needed tying up because of, you guessed it, that next trilogy.
This is so good. Worth reading. George Lucas compared Anakin to Faust, making a deal with the devil that ultimately fails. “Anakin wants to have a family. He wants to be married to Padmé and have children. When he sees in his dreams that Padmé is going to die, he doesn't know how, but it's preordained. He's in love with her. He doesn't want her to die. He wants to possess her, to control that. He keeps getting himself deeper and deeper into this pickle. He wants a family but at the same time he knows he can't have one. Now the greed has taken over and the fear of losing his wife and baby. The whole point is you can't possess somebody because they are their own person. You can't dominate and make them do everything you want them to do... …Right. He's walking into a death trap. And there’s no way out... …And also saying that ‘My mentor told me that there was a way that could stop death.'’ Which was a lie. They can't. Anakin got sold a bill of goods because he wanted it so bad that if anybody would sell him anything, he'd believe it... It's a scam. Anakin’s made a pact with the Devil: ‘I want the power to save somebody from death. I want to be able to stop them from going to the river Styx, and I need to go to a god for that, but the gods won't do it, so I'm going to go down to Hades and get the dark lord to allow me to have this power that will allow me to save the person I want to hang on to.’ Ultimately, it's about power. He traded his soul for power. It's Faust. The more power he wants, the more power he gets, the more he loses. The Devil says, ‘You can become more powerful but you must pass this first test. The first test is you must kill your mother. The second test: you have to kill your wife. And the third test: you have to kill your best friend.’ In the end you have all this power but you have nobody to share with, except some wizened old man who’s even more evil than you are. If you’re going to sell your soul to save somebody you love, that’s, as we say in the film, unnatural. You have to accept the natural course of life. Death is obviously the biggest of them all. Not only death for yourself but death for the things you care about.” — George Lucas in conversation with Paul Duncan. The Star Wars Archives: 1999–2005 (Published by Taschen)

*light rephrasing here, not much.. The other day, my kid: Is there really another Avengers movie coming? Me: *sigh* Yes but.. a lot has happened since Endgame. Kid: Like what? M: Well, it turns out there are a lot of universes K: Okay.. ? M: And they all have Infinity Stones K: OH NO!? M: Don't worry, there's an agency that collected them to keep them safe K: But that woman told Hulk that they had to come back to where they were or everyone would die! M: Yes, that doesn't matter now. The agency turned them into paperweights K: They didn't really matter? M: Nope. Also there was a secret race of immortals living on Earth who had the sole job of fighting Titans if they showed up K: Did any show up? M: Yes, one.. Thanos K: But they weren't in that fight! M: Yeah. M: Oh and Wanda went evil K: Huh? M: Yes, after Endgame, she held an entire town hostage and brainwashed some kids to make them think they were her kids K: But she's a good guy! And didn't have kids! M: Yeah.. K: But she was okay after that, right? M: Well she went crazy and went into other universes and killed Reed Richards and Professor X K: Did they have to kill her? M: I don't know, I didn't watch that movie M: Oh and the guy that played Black Panther died. Like the actor K: I liked him! M: Yes, he did a great job K: Is there a new Black Panther? M: Never mind M: OH! And Falcon is fully Captain America now. K: Cool. Who is Falcon then? M: Sam is both, he still has his wings K: What? M: And he fights the President K: What? M: Do you remember way back in that first Hulk movie where that scientist was helping Bruce and the blood dripped on his head? K: Not really M: Well that scientist is back and he did something and made the President into the Hulk K: That guy was hiding this whole time? M: I guess so, I haven't seen that movie either. Oh, and this Hulk is red. K: So who are they fighting in this Avengers? M: Doctor Doom K: That metal mask guy from the Fantastic Four? M: Yes! But this is a different Fantastic Four K: Do they team up with the Avengers? M: Do you mean Avengers with an "S" or a "Z"? K: What? M: There are two groups of Avengers now. There the ones you saw who lived through Endgame though I'm not sure who's active. There's also another group called Avengers but with a Z K: That's dumb. Who is in that Avengers? M: The one with the Z? K: ARG. YES M: Well, there's Bucky and they hire a new Captain America K: Wait, not Sam? M: No, not Sam. Sorry, this guy isn't really Cap now.. the government hired him to be Cap, then he murders someone and they fire him K: They didn't put him in jail. How is he an Avenger!? M: And there's a new Black Widow K: Who is this one? M: It's Natasha's sister K: She's a Black Widow too? M: Yes, the Black Widows come from a school where they train girls to be assassins. She there are a lot of them M: OH and guess who Doctor Doom is! K: He's that angry doctor guy M: No, remember how Tony sacrificed himself to save universe? Well he's back K: But he's dead M: Yes K: So he fights Doctor Doom too? M: No... K: ... M: Try again.. K: Doctor Doom captures Tony and makes him build stuff? M: Good idea, but it's worse K: Worse? M: Worse. K: Tony is helping Doctor Doom on purpose!? M: Worse. K: ... M: Tony is Doctor Doom K: WHAT
