Golden Plover Census this weekend.
Please see the following from BTO
Can birders please ensure all records of Golden Plovers, especially away from the coast, are reported today and tomorrow, on BirdTrack if possible.
Thanks.
Our last Moth Night of the year is this Saturday 10th October at 4:30pm (note the earlier time). It's free to come along and see what species have been caught recently.
Please note that roadworks are due to begin along Sandown Rd tomorrow and access to Sandwich Bay from Sandwich Town may be difficult. It is unclear at the moment if there will be a full road closure or just one lane.

Watching huge numbers of greylag geese arrive to roost at Pegwell Bay as darkness falls is quite something! 🦆✨
In autumn, these wonderful flocks gather in massive numbers as part of their seasonal migration and winter grouping behaviour.

Taking a look over Minster Marshes last night—an area facing massive environmental destruction from National Grid’s Sea Link project.
Building Europe’s largest converter station here & tearing up Pegwell Bay is unthinkable.

A good spot by @jdhbull of a colour ringed Wood Sandpiper on Backsand Scrape at the weekend. The bird had been ringed nine days previously 875km away in Norway.

The monthly bird-related post from me relates to a juvenile Cuckoo that's taken up residence along one of the coastal footpaths. Likely hanging around to feed up before continuing its journey south, it's been putting a dent in the local fox moth caterpillar population!
